I read an article last week that said that people that have Neanderthal DNA are more susceptible... so, yeah... Trump needs to worry.

He sure digs drugs "If you have to get COVID to be able to take all these wonderful treatments, it's worth it." The steroid crash is reported to be VERY unpleasant. The Herman Cain timeline from infection to death has him saying how good he feels about 2 weeks in, 2 weeks later he was an ex-parrot.

'When they go low, we go high'
Has been replaced with, 'A race to the bottom.' Might make us feel good in the short term. But there's no better future in it.

Great insight from Anand Giridharadas "Over the weekend, I tried to tie the threads together: βHe hosted a super-spreader event to honor a justice who would have the government control your body but refuse the duty to care for it, and when the virus he helped go around came around, he availed of the healthcare he would deny others, financed by the taxes he refuses to pay.β the.ink/p/the-illness-he-is"What is dying now is so much bigger than him. It is this fantasy, this masquerade, of strength. This old, empty, puffed-up way of being a man. This economic philosophy that murders human potential in the name of birthing it. This insistence on doing oneβs thing, listening to no authority ordering you to cover your orifices, and preferring death on a genocidal scale to your own yielding. This clinging to the kind of freedom that kills you."

It seems the repubs long running distrust of intellectuals has expanded to the very concept of science. They won't trust the doctors until they're gasping for breath.
The candidate that crowd surfed at the rump rally may be hard to top for stupid.

Stupid is as stupid does. And there's a lot of it about. So watch out.

miles turn off the TV, put on some nice soothing music or play a Beatles album backwards. Right now, I have to agree with my daddy calling TV The Idiot Box.

Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead?

donavan I don't think all TV is boring. I've been watching shows about zoos, and Spy Cam animal robots...I find the way the keepers and vets interact with all kinds of animals to be of interest. When there are no humans around it is also interesting how animals react to perceived creatures of like kind. The robot perspective is sometimes amusing. As for politial news documentaries and pundits, I like to watch The Circus on Showtime. I watched it during the 2016 US Presidential campaign, too. John Oliver reports like I probably would, given the chance. Whether I am laughing my butt off, super angry or very sad, I learn more about a topic by hearing Last Week Tonight's spin on things.

Why Don't You Just Switch Off Your Television Set and Go and Do Something Less Boring Instead was a kid's TV programme in the early seventies. Your Idiot Box remark reminded me of it. TV was better back then and we only had 3 channels. Now I have about 300 of them and I still can't find anything to watch.

That is probably the longest TV show name of which I have heard. I used to think that I could always find something to watch on cable TV until a couple years ago when shows from one channel started turning up on another channel. This was happening a lot, among the channels I usually watched. Now, I find they are all part of Discovery and it seems that it is a way to cut down on original programming costs and build up audiences. Meh.
