All men have an emotion to kill; when they strongly dislike some one they involuntarily wish he was dead. I have never killed any one, but I have read some obituary notices with great satisfaction.

The WHO has announced a new pandemic spreading rapidly. schadenfreuvid-20 list of symptoms include... loss of sense of empathy coughing *fuck you!* under breath spontaneous grave dancing inability to suppress giggle while saying "we wish the president the best in this difficult time" Please wear a mask to cover smile while in high risk areas such as a farm supply store or Hobby Lobby. This explains my blasé reaction to the news that Trump and wife tested positive for CoVID-19. I wasn't gleeful, but I did think they "shoulda worn masks." "Leave the Plaquenil® for the people with Lupus like my neice!" and "Superspreaders just gotta spread."

Boris now Trump. I guess it doesn't matter who it is and how they act it's still not something to take pleasure from. Boris had it but he still now continues to break the rules. So no lessons learnt. I guess when Trump pulls through it will just strengthen his disregard for Covid. And in turn his popularity will peak just in time for the election.

I don't argue with that. Of course what we wish for has no actual influence on reality. The confluence of rump and and far left is the desire to "shake things up." So you got what you wanted, things is pretty shook up about now.
My ill will has no impact on his fate. That was determined by his actions.

That is true, donavan ...I had a conversation with my son about not taking pleasure from someone else's pain...wait a minute, stop rubbing your hands together...we don't know what's around the corner. Everything I ever made fun of when I was a kid, I became eventually. That kind of attitude reaches up and bites you in the ass. I want to be a kinder, better person. I sometimes feel good about seeing a cop pulled someone over that passed me by while being really erratic behind the wheel. But I don't laugh. To me, that's the Universe taking care of things. Nobody is perfect. Everyone has made mistakes, or in the very least been judgy. We have two ears and one mouth for a reason, and I am learning to act like I understand why. I could be wrong, though. I am imperfect.

"We're rounding the corner," Trump had taken to saying in recent weeks. Nothing but carefree good times ahead was the message he repeatedly sent to mostly maskless packed crowds at rallies and other events over the past week. Now anyone who attended Trump's Wednesday fundraisers and campaign rally in Minnesota, his Thursday fundraiser in Bedminster, New Jersey, or particularly his Rose Garden nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court last Saturday, has been left to wonder whether they may have been exposed. In fact, every Washington Republican who has tested positive this week either attended that Rose Garden event or has come in close contact with people who did. As the Washington Post vividly described, a certain intoxication imbued attendees as they tested negative and were informed they could ditch their masks. Conservatives were finally on the way to cementing a virtual super-majority on the court and Trump suddenly had a positive message to take to his supporters. But in the days that followed, that buoyant celebration was instead revealed as a deadly serious and reckless miscalculation of the facts on the ground. And here are the facts: We are a nation that has now suffered more than 209,000 lives lost due to COVID-19. Tens of millions of Americans have lost jobs. Kids across America are still sequestered in their homes rather than returning to school, and a shocking number of children are going hungry. And it appears the nation is now headed for an extended recession. It only seems fitting that the man who blindfolded America as he led us into this battle has now been forced to deal with the sham he perpetrated on the country in the most personal of terms. In the meantime, the man Trump assailed as "basement" Biden and mocked at Tuesday's debate for always wearing "the biggest mask I’ve ever seen" isn't the man who was rushed to the hospital Friday night."

Thanks for sharing that miles . I have a feeling that the very positive words from the White House doctor were made up stuff. Today, I heard that Trump's vitals were what may have led to his being taken to Walter Reed...he gets his own "suite" and doesn't have to sleep in a hospital bed. Well, hurry up Donald-get out of the hospital and start wearing a mask all the time like the rest of the sensible people in the world. It will help you keep your germs to yourself. That was the original explanation for why we were to wear masks. Time for virtual campaigning, too. Attendees of Campaign Rallies are starting to join the CoVID-19 positive ranks. If you go, wear a mask and try not to get personal with anyone.

To be honest we over here have been told non medical masks which most of us wear make little difference. But we wear them for the little difference they make. It's more the gathering of crowds and not social distancing especially indoors that does the damage. But the pubs are still open. And the rules are different all over the country. And the MP's don't understand the rules but we can get fined for breaking them. It's a complete fuck up.

Yes, different rules/laws in differing counties made me glad when the Governor of California made a somewhat blanket grading for reopening. Still, other states had no mask rules and no social distancing. This led to a general free for all.
My mask is washable and has a disposable three layer filter. (I think my daughter said carbon is one of the layers.) I'm supposed to wear it once, toss the filter and wash the cloth mask. I cough a lot due to my allergies to dust and Fall pollens. I was really glad to be wearing the filter during the brush fire weeks.
I don't think masks are 100% protection at the level of mask I am wearing, but I do keep my distance and limit the places I go to a scant few stores and my son's and daughter-in-law's house around the corner. I eat at home. I have hand sanitizer in the car and a pack of wipes and some disposable gloves in there, too. I feel better about wearing a glove on one hand when using an ATM, or the gas station, so I have done that.
I think I had this danged virus in January. It was the first time I have ever not been able to take a deep breath in the midst of a coughing attack. I just coughed and coughed without being able to gasp for a breath. I took to making sure I was near my bed, in case I keeled over. Unfortunately, the virus has been found to mutate, so you can get it more than once due to the fact that you have no immunity to the mutated versions. Oh, joy.

If a substantial percent of the populace are asymptomatic, it would be good to have a fast, accurate test to tell you if you really did have it. Your symptoms fit.
I wonder too, in mid Feb I had the beginning of a shingles outbreak. I went the doctor and took anti-virals (which wouldn't work on COVID) and it never developed into a full blown case. Still I wonder. I was more exposed than usual because we were out celebrating my birthday, eating in close quarters etc.

I was also really sick with something similar in the Fall of 2015...I have been wondering if MERS or SARS (I think one of them is in the Corona virus family) cases can affect how hard CoVID-19 hits you. Perhaps having a strong reaction to a Corona virus family strain previously can lessen the impact (present asymptomatically) of what occurs now. You are sensitive to herpes family viruses? My Grandma had Shingles outbreaks...she would kneel down and pray on her Rosary a lot when she was in pain while visiting us in California. Made me sad-she was sweet and kind and I didn't want her to hurt so much. There are a whole lot of herpes viruses. My daughter got Foot and Mouth disease when she was two. She had a lighter case of Chicken Pox than my son did, and I always wondered if it was because of the earlier exposure to Foot and Mouth herpes pox. My son's Chicken Pox was a gnarly case...he couldn't even hold a pen or pencil to draw. He was always drawing in those days.

There is a theory that previous exposure to earlier, but related viruses could give limited protection (milder symptoms, quicker duration) to COVID. Even some speculation about flu shots we have had in the past, giving some resistance.
My wife had a serious shingles outbreak on the right side of her face in 2004. She has had all the subsequent vaccines for it. My outbreak was in the same place, because of her experience, I knew what it was and got treatment ASAP. The antivirals work best if taken early. I still need to get my shingle vacs. My father had a serious outbreak in his right arm and hand. He never regained full use of his hand (nerve damage) but could use it better after a year or so. Anyone who has had chicken pox can get shingles later in life.
