Well over here the NHS say it will take ten years to catch up and the funding in real terms is at an all time low. But then it depends on who you listen to. You can always find someone to match what you want to hear.

True, dat, donavan. I can't remember who said it, but somebody said herd immunity is at least a decade maybe decades away.

It may or may not be significant to you, but it is relatively insignificant to me that my CoVID-19 test returned a NEGATIVE result. I told my boss that, but he wasn't taking an educated guess for an answer.
I texted him the result and asked if he was going to have all the clients get tested before they come to the office for appointments.
It took him about 30 seconds for my boss to call me. Lol. He thought it to be a good idea, but as I said-fat chance of that happening. I then said-how about we put a plastic sleeve up on the outside of the door with a Masks Required sign and he liked that idea.
When I spoke with him last Friday, he gave me the assignment to check into some snacks for the office. I did at Costco today, but they were what he usually gets-tiny bags of nuts or bags of trail mix with M & M-like candies in them. So I reported in and asked him what kind of snacks he was talking about and he said "I don't know. All I can find are the trail mix and those little cracker sandwiches." I am going out on a limb, here and taking healthy snacks down to the bottom of the list. That's what I had been looking for.

Though, were it me. There would be M&M's whether I'm supposed to eat them or not. There's also dried fruit, some types aren't too much in bulk. Like from Oh Nuts! or similar companies. Although unsulfured is more and a pain to find if you're sensitive. Then there's stuff like bulk ordering shelf stable individually wrapped candy (menthol fruit chips yum. Not chips like potato tlkisy semi hard candies) try Economy Candy in Manhattan they ship. Multi-generational family run store. Been there a bunch my dad too my grandfather used to take him. Gee I hope it's still open after the past few years craziness. But they're great variety, ship and fair.

Debating whether to mention this:
I feel much lonelier this past week. I lost my 3 closest family in a a 13 month period. Last grandparent, my grandfather passed Jan 4th in the evening. He lived long, would have been 94 in Feb I believe. But it still stinks. I got along best with my grandparents of my family and with grandmother gone in May after my major loss in Dec. Just been one awful time after another with the circle of few people I speak with and see in person dramatically reduced to almost none. I suppose being disabled in ways that makes travel and some forms of communication more difficult if not no possible exacerbate s that too. I really miss the 3 of them.

I miss my parents, my mom died in 1989 at age 59. My dad in 2013 at 86. I have a number of family from my mother's side, but we don't do much more than send xmas cards. So I hear what you are saying about loneliness. For a number of years I had many friends, some close ones in the artist communities. Many of them have passed as well.

I think the snacks could not be bought in large quantities if I want to keep them on the healthier side. He already bought some of those gonzo sized bags of little candy bars...I keep a little glass dish filled up for the clients, but the past two years this has not been on my list of duties. The candy store sounds like a fun place to visit! What a nice thing that your family had a sweet tooth passed along with a candy store! Disneyland used to have The Candy Palace and it was enormous! Downsized for sure in the past decade, not sure if it is even a thing these days. Knott's Berry Farm (and the amusement park that it grew into) has a big candy store. I will look for your candy store online. Yeah, I like uncultured dried fruit. Many a pack of Turkish Apricots I have sadly put back on the shelf due to sulfured product.

I'm sad to hear you have a heavy heart this past little while, Bluey! May your Grandfather rest peacefully and you have very happy and fond memories to think about as you go forward remembering that he and your Grandmother are a part of you. Having feelings of loss and yearning for those passed does deserve your emotional attention...it is human to mourn, tears are part of that process. It is ok to own them. There isn't a time limit on grief, but it is good to really feel those feelings when they are fresh. That way, you don't carry such a heavy load forward with you that keeps coming back over and over again. It took a long time, but I still feel my Daddy's imprint on my life even though he has been gone since 1985. [And luckily, my daughter was only a year old when he went (or "got deaded" as Daddy used to call it) and she can't tell me I'm remembering things all wrong.] Yes, having a disability that curtails your getting out and about does make it hard for you to get out and socialize (if only in the grocery store line like me) but you do have online friends and maybe you could take pen in hand and write a good but distant friend an actual letter! It is time to send Valentines and peruse Spring bulb catalogs...you can ask questions of others who may have chosen things to brighten their yards. Thinking of a brighter yard in the Spring is a nice thing to look forward to, I know the snow makes it impossible now. Drawing up a plan might give you something positive to occupy time once you have had your time to mourn. <3

Oh, dear...my condolences to your aunt. How very difficult to go that far with a life partner and be left by yourself. I know some people adapt to that kind of loss and some people don't. My marriage ending was not that kind of loss. He was still around for me to argue with, so there was no deep sense of loss. Painful, yes... but it was more like when am I going to be done with this guy? I should be so fortunate as to have a long term partner to miss that much! I feel badly for your aunt. I am sorry you lost your close friends in artist communities...you communicated on a very cerebral level and that must intensify the pain. Your parents (genders reversed) sound about where mine may end up. Dad was 56 and my mom is nearing 88. There was a little memory tree at my last high school class reunion decorated with images from old yearbook photos of our five classmates who had passed. I was shocked to see that one of my favorite new friends from freshman and sophomore years had died. That was unfortunate, as she was a unique and brilliant individual.

We have almost no sunlight. Seriously, it's all shade garden. Hosta only territory and even they struggle due to decades of negligence letting huge trees grow. I love the trees but wish I had a near the house that I can see from a window part-sun zone. I. Planning and have been a black and white flower garden in memorial of my dearest departed one like his colors were. It's very hard to get black shade plants. May try some hellebore varieties. I also want pollinator plants as always but they may struggle with do much tall tree induced shade. Y'all enough I can't get on a ladder and trim some limbs. That tall. I'd have to hire an arborist. I probably will try though. I really want my red lobelia and a butterfly bush. And Butterfly weed.. coneflower s would be nice too. There are struggling hydrangeas in the front. I'd love them to make it but I have a feeling they don't thrive due to shade. My paternal grandfather grew hydrangeas so they make me think of him. I'd love to find a way to get them to succeed. There was a single bloom amongst two sorta small mid sized plants and 2 or 3 barely grown attempts at hydrangeas.

I got a shirt so really liked. It reminded me of my paternal grandfather for some reason. Then I partly remembered why and asked my father to confirm. Some 30ish years ago they had a couch in the den with similar colors. It moved to the basement I think when I was a little kid. Why I fixated on that I don't know. It just felt like a "Grandpa" shirt and I liked that, however tenuous the actual link. It's ok to laugh at that. I find it silly a bit myself.

Can you grow a hydrangea indoors? Force blooms year round? I love those!
How about rhododendrons in the shade? If they can take to cold and snow in England, maybe they can make it in Connecticut!
Yes, black and white...are there any variegated grasses in that color combination? Those might work in the shadier areas!
