I went to the pub and breezed back. To be honest I've no idea how I got back to my hotel room. Perhaps it was a fair wind and following seas. But all good for now.

I hope you didn't get kicked out of the pub after asking for a draft.

The last pub I was in had a pub quiz based on the TV show, Friends. I didn't enter but still came last. I guess it wasn't my day, my week my month or even my year.

The Ice Storm Cameith, butts were frozen. The first round on Sat iced us in. Tuesday at 3 pm power was out, phones dead. Played Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble and Backgammon to LED lantern light. Warmer rains melted enough ice so it could be shoveled, and by Friday I could get up the steep driveway. Power on again Sat at 2 pm, phones and internet restored Sunday. As the interior temp drops, more layers of clothing are added. It was about 45 degrees inside on Sat. Been through 5 or 6 of these events, sometimes it's feet of snow. Ice is the worst though, lots of trees were lost. My neighbor's house was hit by 2 that fell, 1 put a hole in his roof and smashed one of his solar panels. We were fortunate, but cold. Played English Settlement on our battery driven player.

More news for the weather channel thread: The super sub-freezing weather is about to end - so say the weather folks. My little car grumbles and moans when it's so cold and the gas mileage plummets. The coming 7-10 days are forecasted to be in 30s F/0s C. Yay! I wonder if miles escaped the worst of the ice storms. I remember seeing photos of an ice storm in his town some years back - knocked out power for a week or so. How's everyone else faring these days? The one in 2016 was very extreme, made worse by temperatures not getting above freezing for week. until the ice melted, they couldn't restore power either. This one impacted our sister city Springfield more.

I was in the Cheshire at the weekend where the weather was calm and sunny. I returned to Greater Manchester today to find the complete opposite. How a thirty minute train journey can change everything so much. Oh Lord deliver us from the elements, we've no defence we are impotent.

I find his storytelling of these anecdotes to be really funny and he's a great speaker.
This is David Lee Roth telling various stories.

When will they run out of names for storms? We seem to have a fresh one each day. And it never stops raining, although there will be the usual water shortage in a few months time. Then we are all going to die in the heat until two inches of snow brings the country to a standstill at Christmas. And on it goes.....
