My furnace stopped working during the coldest stretch of the fall thus far (turns out the thermostat was busted). After a week of unsuccessful attempts to get a repair person, I finally get the problem fixed, and now it is sunny and sixty. Fahrenheit, not Celsius.

After a week of unsuccessful attempts to get a repair person, I finally get the problem fixed, and now it is sunny and sixty. Fahrenheit, not Celsius. That sounds awful! If you don't have the appropriate in-home temperature it is bad news. The paucity of repair persons is due to scads of other people having a similar problem. Leave it to the Weather to mess with you by having the cruelty to become more tolerable just as the relief of a fixed furnace is achieved. Still, the furnace is ready for more snow, ice and frozen feet, so that's a plus. Good deal!

It's very cold over here. But it's warm in my kitchen. I've got the Christmas Dinner sprouts on simmer.

I returned my vinegar to the supermarket today because it had lumps in it. I felt foolish when they told me the lumps were in fact onions.

After a week of unsuccessful attempts to get a repair person, I finally get the problem fixed, and now it is sunny and sixty. Fahrenheit, not Celsius. Guess what, Finntrovertigo...I have a slight understanding of your plight, now. My heater had been acting weirdly, which I always assume is my jumping to the confusion that I was what was weird, not the heater, actually. It would go on for a few minutes and shut off, never getting to the desired temperature. The LED window numbers were getting fainter and fainter. Hey! I knew (and cared) nothing about this until it went dark and completely stopped functioning. When everything runs smoothly, it is not my job. Yeah, I'm a spoiled brat, what of it? I had written myself a note indicating I was supposed to replace the batteries (2-AAA Batteries) when I did the time change replacement of 1-9-V battery in the Smoke alarm. At the last GD time change, I could not get the freaking thing open, and as I usually break plastic things when my frustrated adrenalin spikes make one last ditch effort to open whatever thingie I am attempting to do my positive self care on, I decided not to break it and forgot about it. (I am pretty down on myself about this making a bad thing worse issue I have...other people can work this stuff, why can't I? Truth is, I am a destructive Nerd-like Klutz. Total honesty, here.) Shortcut to the end... Landlady got the thing open without breaking it. We replaced the batteries. The screen was back with the numbers, heater was back with the running a few minutes, turning off, going back on for a few minutes , turning off, etc. Furnace guys came over...told my landlady the whole system including ducts need replacement due to being from 1991. I bravely said I've got a really heavy non allergenic comforter and duvet cover that will keep me warm, checked around for little room heaters from family and ex. Nada available. Landlady seeking other furnace investigations and one will come tomorrow. She purchased and brought over a Parabolic Heater, and that has been my localized warmth ever since December 12th. I would probably have frozen to death were I anywhere but Southern California. So yeah. Here I am being self insufficient, again.

I can also be a destructive Nerd-like Klutz. Not alone. Thank goodness! Sometimes when I am that thing, I think it is good that nobody saw me do that.

I've broken plastic crap like that all the time. Those little notches that are supposed to keep it in and always are cheap crap that break when you try to open it I do that too

Tangential a bit. I can't get the damn child proof cap off my adult medicine of CBD oil. I usually have to try four or five times and then give up and after many colorful words ask my partner to do it. I don't like childhood caps that are also adultproof.

We had an ice storm last night, fortunately a small one, so the trees didn't come down and knock out the power. The streets are all coated so driving is a seriously bad idea. We have a full fridge and the festivities shall go forward. There was a really terrible ice storm here in 2016, we had no power or heat for a week with the temp below freezing. So it does create anxiety when one is forecast. Hope those on the East Coast and in Canada (Suzi) are doing okay with their extreme weather.

So far good luck here. We had a brief power outage around 5:00 a.m. for a few hours but thankfully short enough to not spoil the food. Winds are still strong until tomorrow night from what the forecast indicates. Hoping everyone is well too.
