I've been thinking about my friends throughout the North American Continent-I can't believe the temperatures that have been below zero in places I don't normally see this time of year. What a nightmare for the National Guard, Red Cross, every living being in these times of power outages, uncleared streets where First Responders can't even get in to see if people are alright. I am relieved seeing that the Sierras are getting snow, but know that this isn't going to make a dent in the California drought condition.
@intro did you have to stay home from work? Even if you didn't were people crazy enough to go shopping? Ohio looked like it was hit as hard as New York. Canada slid all the way to Nevada and South Carolina!

Worst places hit: Airports. Talk about insanity! Hey, a few storms in succession are supposed to hit California! With any luck one will hit when the Rose Bowl/Parade are scheduled. Since New Year's Day falls on a Sunday, the game and parade move to Monday. I hope it doesn't stop raining until after that, but it probably will be GD Beautiful as usual. Who cares, the B-1 isn't flying there's some substitute new B-whatsis to start the parade. I like the old one. Grounded because it has issues, I heard mention of...or I am getting better and better at making up stuff. I could run for BP Mayor. As Ali would say..."I'll get me coat."

I don't know if the mall was closed (I wasn't scheduled), but I am not happy that the eye doctor was out, and I wasn't given any message about that, so I drove there only to learn that I will have to reschedule my eye exam.

Stay warm folks. Pouring rain, some of that will arrive in SoCal later. At least we're not in Buffalo.

So far so good, but The Weather Channel app my phone came with keeps promising more...day after day and there was lots of bright sunlight burning through the dark clouds that produced nada de aqua.

How are people holding up on the West Coast with all the rains and storm I've been reading about? The heavy rain has caused a great deal of flooding for a lot of Californians...like Midwest style creeks overflowing and train bridges washing out and the like. IRS has even extended the Tax Return due date for some Californians (who knows, maybe most if not all-I'll find out Tuesday when the season starts for me) due to everything being a big mess. The same happens in other parts of the country when Natural Disasters/States of Emergency are declared. Trees have landed on cars, people and homes, a sink hole opened up in The Greater Los Angeles foothill area that two moving cars wound up driving into and Fire and Police had to rescue. There is a little five year old boy that was washed away after he and his mom were stuck in raging runoff. Nearby neighbors were able to rescue the mom, but while that was happening, the little boy was taken by the waters. Hundreds of people are back out there looking for the child the local news announced today...that makes me tear up every time they talk about it. I did my best to stay indoors and ran all my errands at one time when it wasn't pouring. (Speaking of which, I am supposed to be doing right now because it is going to rain for the next couple days.) It did pour, which fascinated me and had me opening the front door to watch. I do love the rain, but like to watch it and smell the clean air from under a patio cover or inside the home with the windows open. Lots of bad rock falls and mudslide problems in Fire Burn Scar areas. No way to stop that, but the City and County workers always make a valiant effort to stave off the danger. In the mountains and hills, roads were partially washed out, the Surfliner Train Tracks that were being repaired so that picturesque rail line would be restored sometime next month are now closed for who knows how long. So not affecting me so much, but has been anywhere from a disaster to a major inconvenience for many, many Californians.

Well that is very sad for those affected but I am glad you're not. Perhaps you should get one of those Vernor's Ginger ale dispensing chairs depicted at the start of this thread and kick back. I'd sure like one of those myself

I think we're safe unless we start seeing a big ark carrying many animals going by. Then I'd flee the house packing your best cubits measure and other essentials.
