I managed to snag a vaccine; had my second one yesterday. Feel a little rough, but I'm very lucky to have got one, I know. Thing is, most of the people I work with act like they've never even heard anything about an actual pandemic. The company mandates masks (on paper, at least) but most of the people I see are wearing them as a chin-strap or dangly earring, especially when they want to talk to you. I routinely see people pull down their mask to sneeze. It's mind boggling.

Glad you were able to get vaccinated, especially with the work situation.

I have scheduled my first vaccination for Sunday at a mass event. You drive there in a car and get the jab by appointment in a parking lot. My age group, over 65 just became eligible in our state.

Got my first dose as planned at a mega site. It was like a rock concert, except you never get out of your car, there's no music and the headliner is an injection. Only effect today is a sore shoulder. WOO HOO!

Where I live, people have been divided into 10 categories, 1 being the most vulnerable. I'm in Category 10, and the authorities haven't even finished vaccinating Category 1 folks, yet. So I'm thinking end of summer for me..? Makes no sense -- they should be putting single parents near the front of the line. If I should become seriously ill or die, my children will almost certainly be split up and sent to different foster homes.

If I should become seriously ill or die, my children will almost certainly be split up and sent to different foster homes. There is much unfair and illogical distribution of vaccines. Controversy over teachers either, going ahead of the elderly (as here in OR) or not getting the shots and being ordered back to in school classes, in many states. Minorities, rural residents, those without cars or access to computers, also have been negatively impacted. The other problem in the US is the lack of resources (or inequitable distribution) for public health. It sounds like the conservatives have done a number on the NHS over in England.
I hope you can get the vaccine ASAP Terra.

Hey, hey -- we've started vaccinating people between 75 and 85 - Category 2! One down eight to go before I get my turn.
Meanwhile, I received a call at around 8:30 pm from the school principal telling me that a classmate of my youngest daughter had just been diagnosed with Covid. We were told that everyone in the household was to be tested and stay confined until the results were in. Okay, so I emailed the other kids' teachers to tell them why they'd be missing school the next few days, as well as putting in an absence request on the school's web site. My eldest son will miss several days' wages, since he can't go to work. And I must telework with a house full of noisy children.
Anyway, I made an appointment with the Covid clinic for all six of us; and the next day, we gave our samples, only to be told that the wait time for the test results would be 4 or 5 days because the regional lab was closed due to their analyzing machines or whatever breaking down -- so the samples were sent far away to a larger metropolitan area.
I'm about to drop money in the swear jar...

"I'm about to drop money in the swear jar..."
You're entitled to a dozen free ones.
And the media keeps saying how great the rollout has been in the UK, and how crappy it's been in the EU. Grading on a curve.
