I find I read various online newspapers but never quite got the hang of or interest in large physical format print, finding it too unwieldy for me. With some unusual and difficult to work around auditory processing disability issues I tend to not watch the news on TV ever. Not really sure and I'm kind of curious Do you guys tend to watch the news read it in a physical paper read it online something else or equally all the above?
I'm also disappointed in CNN but that's been for a number of years now. I started reading its site hoping it was a reasonably less nonsense strict reporting kind of news outlet. I find the emotional pandering of headlines and clickbait to be really insulting like I'd be so stupid to care about news only because of such a thing. I know it certainly draws enough to serve its purpose It's just a personal pet peeve. But I do feel that CNN has gone more towards that the past five or so years much more clickbait and the obnoxious habit of changing headlines for the same story so that it seems like something new is going on or is even a completely different story or at least different aspect being reported only to click on such a thing and find it's the same damn thing with maybe a single extra sentence if even. Not that I'm anal retentive enough to hunt for set extra sentence just that it says updated at blah blah blah time. I still go to them for their photo free site as they tend to report on a wider variety of topics and even if half of it is s*** a smattering at least will be something I'm not seeing reported at some of the other larger outlets. I used to like New York times the most but found that it tended to report on less things of interest to me and missed things that were of interest. I felt like the Washington Post was doing better coverage for my interests and so I've been trying a subscription for the year. They certainly have their morons writing so I need to check who the author is sometimes some of them are very clearly Republican leaning and a lot of bull. But I found it useful. I don't really want unnecessary spin in either direction Republican or Democrat or things that trend towards people identifying as one or the other. I just want my news without the b******* in the straight facts. I usually read the BBC AP News too. For extra which has its fair share of crap, but also skin to CNN I find the guardian reports at least sometimes on things I wouldn't see covered elsewhere that aren't total trash as far as I'm concerned and interest me so I go amongst all these usually a couple times a day certainly a bit news obsessed I guess to try to get a reasonably well-rounded and informed idea of what is happening. What about you guys Do you have particular news sources you find you prefer for feeling they are more trustworthy?

Totally different topic. What are you guys think of the Bragg situation?
Is he bringing charges that will not amount to much whether because of acquittal or things that are not traditionally given prison time or do you think it's a more complicated and perhaps intelligently designed plan we haven't seen enough hints as to where he's going?
Do you think Georgia will do it and successfully convict him of some serious s***?
I don't have a lot of faith to see him go to jail as I wish and I'm still pretty terrifieders too much of a non-zero chance of this POS or De Satan or similar getting a presidency next time. But I'm sure hoping for these f**** to get thrown away. The amount of evil and damage they do this country never ceases to disgust me. Add McC$#@&l to that list also.

I had to look that up. The only Bragg I know is Billy.
I read/watch a lot of news on TV/Internet. But it's difficult to keep up with everything.
I don't buy newspapers anymore and was surprised to see recently how expensive they are. We have a 'free' newspaper called The Metro but it's pretty poor so I don't bother with that either.
I get some of your USA news channels on Cable but they don't hold my attention. When I flick to them it's usually some sheriff talking about the latest shooting.
When listening to the news, especially political news you have to decipher what is really going on. So it's mostly not really news anyway.

What about you guys Do you have particular news sources you find you prefer for feeling they are more trustworthy? I think ratings drive the news coverage in recent times. Part of the hysterically emotional, be afraid! nature of the business model mirrors social media clickbait. I disagree that the constant false equivalency message, both parties are the same and bad, is factual. Just look at the hostage situation. Republicans voted to spend the money, now don't want to pay their bill. It has been likened to dine and dash, order the meal, eat it and run out without paying. There has been much reporting about parents rights re education. Then we find out that just 11 people have filed 1000s of complaints against books in school libraries, which are then removed. But listening to the media, you get the impression that thousands of parents are rising up against "woke." Which they still can't fucking define.
Is there a perfect objective source, I haven't found one. But some report on important stories overlooked in the rinse repeat cycle of cable news. It is a left-wing democratic supporting site, but I do spend a lot of time at Daily Kos. I also like Josh Marshall's site Talking Points Memo. I subscribe to the New York Times, and they are very fairly criticized for their reporting on things like the buildup to the invasion of Iraq and the Hillary e-mails nothingburger. BUT, they do excellent investigations as well, which is why I support them. I suspect WAPO is similar, but they have been pushing questionable conservative nonsense as well. I think Bezos is afraid of finally having to pay any taxes.

Yeah I am a bit curious as to as well as concerned what's going on with bezos and the involvement in Washington Post. Read enough times that he's supposed to be hands off but not like saying that makes it necessarily true.
I have definitely read various papers and maybe at wapo too I don't know are trying to include authors whether an opinion pieces or otherwise that are representative of multiple political parties. However I agree completely with you that unlike even in my living memory the past I don't know feels 10:15ish years from what I can remember have gotten so extreme that there's just no comparison many of the ways as you pointed out and then additional ones I'm sure we can make quite a list. From risking the default to just craving not even hidden anymore power-hungry abuse for despicable disgusting purposes. Also which is a little newer information to me at least that the campaigns against what they call woke often even if not always are driven by much smaller groups or individuals and you would think of. It's all pretty depressing and disgusting. I think I just saw that they f***** the EPA yet again which continues to make me feel beyond disgusted and fairly hopeless for the future because of the supreme corrupt that's what I'm calling them from now on.

I sometimes look at daily kos too. I do find for my personal taste it gets to be more or at least feels to me like more opinion pieces with too much emotional baggage rather than the style reporting I would have preferred but I do learn some valuable things that I don't hear elsewhere so occasionally I check in. I mean they do say in fact that they are intentionally whatever they call it bias towards Democrats or left leaning and that's fine I kind of prefer having not hiding ugliness whatever side it's on but reporting it but without I don't know which makes me feel sometimes like a little bit over enthusiastic on the emotional pandering or language. There was a time I thought I was considered liberal I do not think of myself as a progressive at least as far as I see it represented and discussed in terms of what I get the impression their viewpoints are from members of Congress or people who identify yourself in younger generations at least I don't agree with everything they do I still think of myself as a liberal that was the word we used when I was growing up but it clearly is not interchangeable at least as far as I've encountered and read with what the modern-day version progressive seems to mean. By no means do I think of myself as conservative and I'm as blue as it comes. No red voting for me

Kos is repetitive and some of the writers always do the hair on fire bit. They have consistently had the best and most detailed coverage of Ukraine since the invasion began.
Another thing I read is the US version of The Guardian. They do excellent culture/music articles and generally good coverage.
What I really miss is a good daily newspaper. Back in the Bay Area I read the Chronicle, but even before we moved it had lost its mojo. It kept shrinking and had less content.
It is too bad about CNN. They used to have good international coverage, something all the news orgs have slashed to save $.
