I wouln't eat anything that is meant to remind you of meat-its texture, flavor, color-yuck! I eat mostly soy based products to get the protein I need without getting too many carbs. My main source of protein used to be dairy products, but I have found them to be causing wheezing and bloating (yes, TMI) and know they are really to be minimized.
I do like sammiches, and it is convenient to have this plant based protein made in a form that I can add to veggies to avoid carbs. If you have a family history of Diabetes, as I do, then carbs are your enemy. I crave them, unless I have a combo of protein and fat that seems to ease the cravings. I am a volume eater, I need to feel full and eating lots of green, red, yellow and orange veggies satisfies me as long as I have that protein/fat combo. Avocados are a healthy fat that works really well in sandwiches or in salads. (This is why I am so looking forward to having Vegan gravy and mashed potatoes-it is a real treat. The Vegan gravy is loaded with sodium, which is bad for my high BP, so I have to be careful with the stuff. I can always cook up a batch of mushrooms, but it takes me forever to get all the dirt off of them. Sometimes, I just want instant gratification. Or short time in the microwave gratification.)
But no, I do not want to be reminded of meat, I do not want meatlike products and I will not eat them, Sam I Am! Not in a boat, not on a train, not in the rain, Sam let me be!
I think the meat-ish products are for meat eaters who need to cut down on cholesterol or the five lbs of meat in their intestines for health reasons, but NEED THEIR MEAT OR ELSE THEY WEIRD OUT.
