Oddly, never went too far into collecting the TPB's of Groo. I have all the comics... possibly missing any released in the past few years I never heard about.
I was poor when they were coming out and thought the comics were good enough.
Yep... I think the last I picked up was the Groo/Conan book. Missing: Groo: Friends and Foes (12 issues?!) Groo: Fray of the Gods Groo: Play of the Gods Groo meets Tarzan
might have missed The Hogs of Horder too
...although, honestly, the last ones I got... Evanier was getting a little too preachy. Satire fails when the message is so blatant.
those are a project for another time though... or at least Free Comic Book Day. a local place is very generous with the dollar price sticker. I sometimes wonder if they make money some other way.

Not sure if it's easily doable for you but it sounds like an impressive bookcase or cases perhaps if possible you could share a photo? Am I the only one who appreciates seeing my collection and it's glory on a bookcase All of my collection tends to be miscellaneous books of fiction and nonfiction I'm most certainly have an appreciation for the genre and comic books and so on. Big fantasy fiction fan although I'm very very picky. I could afford it I'm sure I would have shelves and shelves and shelves and manga I do the less admirable reading online since finances are exceptionally tight. My main showcase bookcases are honestly shit. Particle board and pegs. While shifting books this week, the plastic pegs kept snapping. Luckily I have replacement pegs. But they perfectly fit the wall, and if you don't look too close, they're fine. My next move will necessitate replacing at least two of them though, they won't survive being moved again.
I actually have some very sturdy strong wood shelves in my work room that I swiped from my library during a renovation. But they don't fit the wall as well and, as I said, If I try to move the shit ones into the workroom instead, they'll probably fall apart- and I'm not ready to replace them.
For now, I bought another cheap, small "media storage" set of shelves which will allow me to showcase a particular collection of nerd stuff in a small appropriate location. Allowing the small amount of growth I need on my main shelves. - my Tenchi Muyo collection (if you all haven't figured it out, my current avatar is a cartoony Ryoko from the franchise).
The DVD sets, Manga, and Books should all fit.
My comic books are in boxes in a closet- not really in a showcase format.

We have the same problem with some of our bookcases The plastic studs and fiberboard. One day I'd like to save up enough to replace them with something a little more robust. My or more robust ones tend to be for more professional and academic stuff when I was able to do that like heavy ass textbooks and research binders and stuff One or so for miscellaneous but I don't think anything very show worthy at this point. Some stuff still in boxes from when I moved quite a while ago I don't really want to get into why there's some complicated feelings with unpacking some of it and that's all say eventually it'll happen

The last couple of weeks have been spent reading a collection of four books by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This Side of Paradise, Flappers and Philosophers, The Beautiful and Damned, and currently on Tales of the Jazz Age.

After a number of biogs, I am rereading Little, Big by John Crowley. I say rereading it because I never finished it the first time. It is long.

The last couple of weeks have been spent reading a collection of four books by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This Side of Paradise, Flappers and Philosophers, The Beautiful and Damned, and currently on Tales of the Jazz Age. How are they Do you recommend any. I only read the Great Gatsby in high school. I need to read more than just manga which has been my go-to more recently. Although I am reading a book about Mark Twain's house And then trying to start some of his books which for me will be a first. Have to pick back up some of the David Bowie books about his music that I was going through as I listened to some of it much for the first time especially some of the earlier albums which I found kind of fun.

If I were to recommend a Fitzgerald book, it would be Tender is the Night, which I haven't read in awhile (I think I lost my copy of it and need to get a new one).

I was given all the Ian Fleming James Bond novels for my birthday last year. I haven't been able to read since getting COVID in 2021, but have been relearning how to read. They are fun and dreadful in equal measure. I am determined to finish. On book 8 out of 14. The worst books make the worst films. The best books also make the worst films. The best books have a Jamaican setting but do not write well about the inhabitants. Or women. Moonraker was fun but there was no space business. Diamonds Are Forever was lousy. Goldfinger was rushed and lame. From Russia With Love was a little dull. Live And Let Die was rather good, apart for the obvious racism and misogyny. Fleming is a better writer than he's given credit for, but a worse one than his fans would admit to.

I've only read one so far casino Royale. I can't say I remember much other than in general I thought I liked it. How did you find it if you read that one yet? I'd like to read some more. Recommend anyone's in particular?

I reread Prelude to Foundation by Isaac Asimov, and just started Forward the Foundation; this series should keep me occupied for the next few weeks, at least.

Finished Little, Big a while back, recommended.
Reading a collection of James Tiptree, who was actually Alice Sheldon. Science Fiction author perhaps more popular with other writers than the masses. The stories are usually original, dystopian and Feminist (most published when she was believed to be male.) I attended a symposium a few years ago at the University of Oregon, in honor of her papers being acquired there. Even the darkest ones have come closer to contemporary reality than I would like. Like Philip K Dick.
