I was working at a seasonal gig in a wee office where there was a boss and there was one employee. Guess which one I was...yass, that was me...Subservient in Chief. Now, I am here. Soon I will be heading southward for a short respite. It has been a much anticipated vacay. In fact, there were times when thinking about the getaway, looking at images of where I'll be staying made making order out of chaos worthwhile. There will be a pool and a balcony/patio and much anticipated NO RINGING PHONES.

Have a great time, Mare - you deserve it! Driving from San Diego, California to Missoula, Montana is 1274 miles. Driving from Land's End, England to John o' Groats, Scotland is 814 miles. (Just to provode a reference for you British types.) Next time, I think we'll fly - and rent a car.

It is interesting noticing the terrain changes, the SoCal coast up to the San Andreas fault (which Trevor pointed out at San Bernardino right below The Grapevine pass), then the CA/Nevada desert, then the Red Rocks dip into Arizona, then the Mormon valleys into the Idaho mountains and lava flows (Craters Of The Moon) into God's country and the approaching Evergreens - one of which Simp has in his back yard.
In all fairness, I DID tell Trevor that there is even more exotic terrain yet to be experienced elsewhere in the country. (Cue: Big Country playing "In A Big Country")

I had a lovely time in Greece: North East mainland. Did bugger all apart from sitting down, reading, eating, and drinking a few beers (but actually fewer than I do normally). Hey ho. Am now off-white in the bits I allowed into the sun.

But we did venture into the Lochsa River country for part of a day, which is definitely more of a Pacific Northwest climate, conducive to mosses, ferns, cedar trees and imaginary elk.
