That's very sweet, Introvertigo. I thought the measuring thing only happened in story books and movies. Obviously my parents were not as enlightened or traditional.

just returned from a six-day solo backpacking trip around "la cloche silhouette trail", in killarney provincial park in ontario. i did this same thing seven years ago (details) and for some reason have longed to do it again. it was every bit as beautiful as before, and, perhaps unsurprisingly, a bit more punishing. i don't expect to do it again; future backpacking trips will likely be less epic. afterwards i spent a very pleasant evening recovering in the town of killarney, where the fish and chips were hot, fresh and delicious. for entertainment i watched, and occasionally chatted with, various boatmen in escalating stages of drunkenness, not all of whom were able to avoid falling off the pier.

Sounds like a great experience, cicadashell! (Especially the fish & chips. Okay, and the backpacking.)

I have been to my back porch (the one attached to my house, not the one I am posting on now, but I guess that one, too), where I enjoyed some fresh air, drank some beer, and finally went back inside because I got tired of my neighbors' dogs yapping at me. Dalmatians are cute, but they should have been born without vocal cords.

I have been in my back garden to assess the weather situation. I'm now looking for the factor 30.

To work, and now to the front porch to enjoy the evening and drink some beer. (I suppose I should go to the back porch, but the view is less interesting.)

I've been to the doctors. When I was leaving he said, see you soon, which is a bit worrying.

I've been all over the place. Mainly dealing with all sorts of stuff on the family front. Still, how are you all? What great forum events have I missed? XX

Hello. It's been a bit quiet. Apart from miles and Intro's massive suppport for Trump. Can you talk some sense into them?
