During and between naps over the past few days, I queued up a few fun movies and pressed play. Since I had seen them before it didn't matter so much that I slept through bits. Thank the inter webs for free youTube movies!
Star Trek VIII - First Contact (1996) - I especially like Zephram Cochran's choice of music during liftoff (Steppenwolf, Magic Carpet Ride) Star Trek (2009) - JJ Abrams' lens flare extravaganza! -yes, I'm a Trekker, and proud of it! Sahara (2005) - I not a fan of the misogyny in Clive Custler's books but this movie adaptation is a ripping yarn. I wish more of his novels had been adapted in this friendly style. The Core (2003) - nothing like a journey to the center of the earth to save the earth. Angels & Demons (2009) - I always have such high hopes for Ewan McGregor's character. But alas...

I as I guess has been obvious in previous posts like when I can find a good silent movie with a good score I feel you need both for at least my enjoyment. I am a bit picky on the topic. I'd recommend the wind there's also another lesser-known thing I'll have to dig it out maybe I posted her earlier hosted as far as I can tell exclusively on a finish government site for their arts and culture or something along those lines. About a group of young men visiting an isolated island where it seems all cheery and happy but then something's going on. No definitely not the wicker man but there's just that slow burning something's off vibe nothing too horrific in any point but a good reveal I don't want to say that and ruin it I thought it very good and fun.

I've never been able to fully immerse myself in foreign films. I think it has something to do with being a slow reader and having to concentrate on the subtitles so much that I miss most of the visual action that takes place. I haven't seen any foreign language films that are dubbed into English. That might be fun.
I recently watched Mission Impossible:Dead Reckoning. I'm a fan of a well done action/adventure story and this movie checked all the boxes. It had Russian and Italian dialog that didn't suffer at all by not be subtitled.

I've been watching nearly a movie/night on criterionchannel the past 2 weeks.
Scarface (1932) -- 3rd time Gold Diggers of 1933 -- 3rd time The Exorcist III (1991) -- 1st time Lifeboat (1944) -- 1st time The Devils (1971) -- 1st time The Killers (1946) -- 1st time The Night of the Iguana (1964) -- 1st time The Third Man (1946) -- er, 7th time? Baby Face (1933) -- um, 5th time?
... and several others that I've forgotten or that I've watched/rewatched only in part.

If you like the old crime drama films perhaps try Spies/Spine 1928? A little overly long but still pretty good.

Yes, saw it years ago. :-)
It may not be in my bio, but I've been ร huge silent film buff all my life. A love I've passed on to my children, although they much prefer Keaton, Chaplin and Lloyd to drama.
. Of course, the pre-Code gangster movies are my favourite -- Scarface, Little Caesar, The Public Enemy, Blondie Johnson -- as are the films noir of the 40s and 50s. Some very good ones as well from France in that period -- Pepe le Moko, Touchez pas au grisbi, Bob le Flambeur, Tirez sur le pianiste, Le Samouraรฏ...
