Here's a lovely Canadian series I came across several years ago. As a Star Wars fan, it was good to learn about the essential workers.

...and because it sprang to mind when looking for the previous series, here's a bit of high culture for any fellow geeks on the forum.

Watching "Johnny Guitar" on TCM, a western starring Joan Crawford. I've heard of the movie but never seen it until tonight.

I thought it was fine, but it was funny hearing the description after the film about what a bitch Joan Crawford was to everyone around her, to the point that co-star Sterling Hayden refused to work with her ever again. His quote was something along the lines of, "No amount of money could get me to work with Joan Crawford again, and I like money."

She sounded like a nightmare to be around and someone you wouldn't want for a mother. I guess that means Crawford was a good actress, eh?

Macca at Glastonbury is now screening. I've listened to the best part of an hour but it's awful. Turning over. OK, where's the remote. Quick!

Maybe he should lip-synch like in the old days before studios & networks allowed artists to play live. He sounded ok driving around with James Corden during Carpool Karaoke.
I heard (a long time ago from some Rock magazine probably) that during The Wings days, Linda McCartney was given a dummy microphone. I don't care. I used to buy her frozen vegetarian food. The pasta and marinara sauce was GREAT. I have one of her cookbooks, too. I could NOT find TVP in any store, in any form. That was in the late 80s. I should go back to that cookbook. There are Soy Crumbles of all sorts now. (The cookbook had beautiful photographs taken by her, as well. She was always a good photographer. Shit, her name was Eastman, it was probably genetic.)

Looks like I turned Macca off before his special guests joined him. Looks like I turned off just in time.

This morning I went to see "Elvis" with a friend. We liked the music, of course, she knew lyrics and I just recognized tunes and the most famous bits. If you want to see the film, possible Spoiler Warning.
It was an interesting look at Elvis' life and evolution as a singer human being. Back in the late 70s/early 80s, I worked with people who were really big Elvis fans. I read an excerpt from a book by one of the Memphis Mafia members in Rolling Stone and went to the library to get the book. I knew about the in-house doctor that doped Elvis up for shows and brought him back down so he could rest. I knew there was booze and grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I knew Tom Parker was an asshole, but I did not know he smashed Elvis' hopes by selling him out to an infamous Vegas Casino magnate to pay off his own gambling addiction markers. Emotional blackmail is evil. Did I like the film? Yes. Well done, Baz. Is it long? Yes. It is way freaking long. It doesn't seem long until you really have to pee. Pee before you go in and ration your beverages while you are in the theater. I made it all the way through. If I could, so can you.
