This morning I went to see "Elvis" with a friend. We liked the music, of course, she knew lyrics and I just recognized tunes and the most famous bits. If you want to see the film, possible Spoiler Warning.
It was an interesting look at Elvis' life and evolution as a singer human being. Back in the late 70s/early 80s, I worked with people who were really big Elvis fans. I read an excerpt from a book by one of the Memphis Mafia members in Rolling Stone and went to the library to get the book. I knew about the in-house doctor that doped Elvis up for shows and brought him back down so he could rest. I knew there was booze and grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I knew Tom Parker was an asshole, but I did not know he smashed Elvis' hopes by selling him out to an infamous Vegas Casino magnate to pay off his own gambling addiction markers. Emotional blackmail is evil. Did I like the film? Yes. Well done, Baz. Is it long? Yes. It is way freaking long. It doesn't seem long until you really have to pee. Pee before you go in and ration your beverages while you are in the theater. I made it all the way through. If I could, so can you. Interesting. Thank you very much. 😎

It's Elvis! You know, my mom was in her late teens/early 20s in the 1950s. She was a classically trained pianist. She wasn't even interested in Elvis, Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, or any of the groundbreaking Pop musicians of the period. (My friend Pam's mom liked the Everly Brothers!) My dad liked Glenn Miller, The Lennon Sisters, Rosemary Clooney-he liked to sing "Old Man River", "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" and Cowboy songs like "Blood On The Saddle." There was lots of music and singing at my house, but zero in which Rock And Roll was rooted. My mom liked some parts of Steve Hackett's solo albums like "The Red Flower Of Tachai Blooms Everywhere", "Lost Time in Cordoba" from Spectral Mornings and also Genesis, saying they had nice arrangements or melodies. (From her that was a big complement.) What I picked up about Elvis was from radio stations like KRTH in Los Angeles, films, interviews and guest appearances on talk shows. It blew my mind that my parents weren't even interested in the new artists of their time.

Most likely, none of you will care at all about this, but I get a kick out of this guy's anime review channel. He has an appreciation for fun trashy stuff, and while I only watched the first episode of this particular show last season (The Spring season was stacked with good shows), I think I may go back to it, now that Summer hasn't revealed anything to get too excited about.

Holy Crapole! I laughed pretty loudly as I watched the first eight minutes, Nonsuch Ned. Good thing I woke up this morning at 1:30am and remembered that The Open at St. Andrews might be on and actually finding it on live. In my head, now, I can picture the players Anime style playing the course (Sheffie (Scottie Sheffler) doing not so hot at first, but winding up pretty well for first day. Go Sheffie!) It is pretty fun to imagine the players' Anime versions...I imagine that Anime Bryson DeChambeau has horns and steam coming out of his ears when he sneezes and breaks his clubs and throws them into orbit. Oh, my! What fun! Thank you!!!

I watched this show. I think it would have done better on YouTube.

When I saw Mortal Kombat in 1995 I thought it was great. I had never seen the game being played, I am not into gory visuals and as usual, I was looking for a good story with cool animation. I got it. I got the soundtrack and skipped a lot of the songs, but I really liked others.
When I went to see Mortal Kombat: Annihilation the day it was released with my kids, I was the only mom there. I didn't like it as much as I did the prior film primarily due to the fact that the character I liked best next to the descendant who needed to save the Universe was Johnny Cage. That guy got killed off within the first five minutes of the start of the movie.
Over the weekend, I saw the 2021 film version of Mortal Kombat. I liked it! Pacing was good, my interest stayed constant. I'd watch it again. What I really enjoyed was the exposition regarding the family from which Liu Kang descended and how that played out.
Cool. I'd watch it again. In fact, I'd watch the one from 1995 again.

I watched this show. I think it would have done better on YouTube. They're doing a new one and yes with Matt Frewer again.

Not joking. I don't think there's a release date yet but he has confirmed it. I loved him as the character Taggert in the TV show Eureka

Just started watching an episode of RiffTrax. I was not expecting an XTC reference around the 6 minute mark.
