Drink too much for a bit then crack on with the essentials to keep the ship afloat. What do you pour over your pudding? Syrup (caramel or maple) Favourite Xmas dish?

I try to walk every day, but more of a routine up and down the hills. In the summer I go further on some days, onto the country roads nearby. There is a roadside grave marker that fascinates me, and I bow to whomever it was on the times I make it that far. It is a lovely place to walk, in most every season, except bitter winter cold.
Is there a Christmas from childhood that you treasure or wish you could forget?

Leading up to one Christmas my dad had been on strike for almost six months so money was tight. I come from a working class rather poor family. All essentials were provided and some sort of holiday occurred each year but outside of that there were no extras. So this particular Christmas was going to be rather lean. Not as lean as I expected though. I received a pencil case with a single pencil in and a paperback Enid Blyton book. And that was it. Whilst disappointed at the time I can now look back and appreciate the hard times my parents went through. And whilst they never really showed much outward love towards me their daily toil and perseverance to keep us all safe and secure is something I now appreciate and treasure. Love comes in many guises.
I love Christmas eve more than Christmas day. I also love my wife and kids. Who or what do you love?

I appreciate his desire to publicize the injustices of his society. I find him difficult to read however.

Is it time to call it a day? What are your plans for New Yearโs Eve?

Stay in. Reflect on another disappointing year whilst looking forward to a similar one whilst appreciating in comparison to a lot of people how lucky I am but taking no consolation from that thought. So same as usual then.
What changes are you planning to make next year?
