Okay, a question: What are your feelings about New Year's Eve?

There was a time it was a big party night. Now, in my dotage, it is a quiet party for two. I feel it is an accomplishment to survive a full year, so I enjoy the end and the chance to try again.
Best Southern food?

I spent about 5 years living in the south. The first place which was more northern than the second was not too impressive on the food front in terms of "Southern" food. Frankly I found both places to have way over priced Southern food like Manhattan level prices without the impressiveness of ingredients to justify the cost. It was quite a turn off. I liked best the international food farmers market. Not sure if that counts. There were some great restaurants with really interesting food but not what I think counts as Southern cuisine. I tried she-crab soup (specialty of first place I lived) and didn't find it all that special. Some really good inexpensive Vietnamese and I think it was Indonesian and Malaysian restaurants. Banh mi and pho and the best Japanese izakaya especially their ramen I've ever had. Jeni's ice cream was in a few locations and had the best and most interesting flavors.i miss those.
What is a new years tradition you have liked to do?

I like to make new year resolutions which usually don't get as far as January 2nd.
Can you have too much of a good thing?

Yes--I'm worn out from celebrating Don Day everyday.
What is your soon-to-be-failed resolution for the coming new year?
