I caught a bit of the earlier showing of Saturday Night Live. I was SHOCKED to see the director throw up a slide as they went to commercial at one point that was a drawing of Buck Henry and his name. That was it. I looked online and found he passed away January 8th, 2020. Thank you for well, most of all, Get Smart. I was weaned from your proverbial comedy teat. In my opinion, you are one of the noteworthy TV writers, film writers and directors of my lifetime. Thanks! Rest peacefully! I loved that wacky, weird man. May he and long lost writer friends reunite and mock the world in its ridiculous state. There's a lot of material there.

I always thought one of his best roles was in The Man Who Fell To Earth. Really an amazing comedy dervish. Get Smart, hell yeah!

Andy Gill, guitarist for The Gang Of Four. Entertainment is really a work of art. It only took my wife playing it for me 20 or 30 times before I realized it.
I liked a quote I read today about their music. " You could tell that Punk happened, but it wasn't Punk."

It made you to want to stop listening, but you couldn't.

Alan Bass, the doctor for England's 1966 World Cup-winning team, has died at the age of 90. They think it's all over, it is now. Thanks Al. x

Dsvid Roback, the founder of the Paisley Underground band Rain Parade, and subsequent influential groups Opal and Mazzy Star, has died at age 61. Rain Parade was my favorite of the Paisley bands, they straddled the vast territory between the sweeter pop of The Three O'Clock and the fully dark outside meandering of the Dream Syndicate. Opal and Mazzy Star had a similar approach, dirge like tempos and a disembodied lead female voice, Kendra Smith and later Hope Sandoval. In Mazzy Star, Roback found popular success and an MTV video played in heavy rotation. www.theguardian.com/music/2020/feb/26/david-roback-mazzy-star-hallucinatory-guitarist-still-sending-pop-into-a-dream

I wasn't a huge fan but I liked them. I remember when the Grammys nominated the band as "best new artist" about 7 years, 3 major label albums, and one Oscar nomination (for Schlesinger) into their career and thinking "I'm pretty sure the guys that got "Radiation Vibe" all over MTV a few years earlier are not "new". And I remember the band being interviewed about it and being as surprised and confused about it as we were.
Produced most of the Monkee's album and Christmas album Andy wrote songs for too.

I was more of a fan from his work with Ivy. Terrible loss of a very talented man.

Bill Withers had to be one of the most universally loved entertainers, I've never heard a bad word said about him. A lot less sunshine today.

...although I guess this is the most appropriate. "..I hope to prove him wrong..."
