Daevid Allen of Gong today. Much love for the flying teapot. Unique marvelous human. I got to see him do a performance at a small club in Berkeley in 1980 or early 1981. Mixture of poetry and song with glissando guitar. The one quote from that night that I can't forget. "I don't like drummers, they hit things for a living." Bizarre coincidence: Terry Pratchett invented Discworld, a flat planet supported by 4 elephants on a giant turtle. Daevid Allen inverted the Plant Gong, which is also a flat planet (inhabited by pothead pixies.)

Mr Richie Benaud: if you like cricket, then you loved him. I actually shed a tear.

Michael Brown of The Left Bank died a couple of weeks ago. In a miracle of precocious inspiration he wrote 3 songs for the girlfriend of one of his bandmates. Walk Away Renee, Pretty Ballerina and She May Call You Up Tonight ( a lesser known but truly great pop tune covered by Richard Thompson and The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band.)

I would wish a fond farewell to Christopher Lee, but I am not sure he is actually dead. I have scoured the internet but have found no indications that anyone put a stake through his heart. So watch out after the sun goes down.

Just read about the passing of Yes bassist, Chris Squire, age 67. Long may he play on.

My last post of this thread was for Dracula, now this one for Batgirl--I don't if that means anything or not. Farewell Yvonne Craig.
