It's working again. This is a firefox issue. They usually correct the problem after a couple days. I can usually view the content via private window, but then you have to manually sign in. I'm lazy.

I just saw the film Harold and Maude for the first time, from about 30 min into it. I can't believe I haven't ever seen it before. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I wonder what I would have thought of the film at a much younger age would differ from what I got out of it right now.

I wonder what I would have thought of the film at a much younger age would differ from what I got out of it right now. I saw it when I was a teen, a great time to see it. My best friend and I were very generically anti-authority and loved movies of misfits that didn't listen to the corrupt elders. Our favorite movie, very much of our time, was Pump up the Volume. Still love it, Since most of the soundtrack was straight from Tea for Tillerman and like only one other song wasn't on another proper Cat album it never had a soundtrack, until now. i picked up a newly compiled vinyl version on Record Store Day and I guess it will be released widely too. And now for something completely different. A song that played randomly on Amazon music a couple years and I instantly "liked" - so it plays in my liked music every so oftn. I can never remember the artist and song title though. I had to google some lyric phrases when I realized it was stuck in my head today. I think it has a mid-90's feel, it reminds me of K's Choice. oh.... Just noticed on the sidebar that she's also the singer of that very reverent cover of "Running up That Hill" that I've heard and been intrigued by. Never noticed the connection before:

Nonsuch Ned I did like hearing all the Cat Stevens/ Yusuf music! I think Tea For The Tillerman came out when I was in my first year of high school. Songs were all over the radio. You mentioned you and your friend were into kids vs. corrupt adults narratives...have you ever seen the film Pecker? The film has a young male protagonist, and I remember him as a teenager, just trying to be himself...dysfunctional family, yes. John Waters wrote and directed the film.

I really have to look deeper into The Sugarplastic's catalog...this song followed the above cut that I posted and I love it. Totally different, but just what I like.

Vaguely aware of Pecker but I never watched it. Slightly surprising, it did come out during College and my college friends were mostly sci-fi film geeks. I could occasionally get them out of that rut, but it's not like I didn't like sci-fi. .... another 80's cover that caught my attention. There's also an Iron & Wine collaboration I like of it...

Nice cover of the Talking Heads song! When I was a young teenager, I read as many of the colored Fairy Books (Blue Fairy Book, Brown Fairy Book, etc.) as my library had. Since it was a tiny library, it only had a few. After those tales, I had a pretty good grasp on a lot of basic plot scenarios, and yearned for TV and films that were different. When I read magazines with film or book reviews that piqued my interest, I would keep my eyes peeled for them. If they eventually were released at the local video rental place, I would grab them up like someone would be trying to grab them before I did. (They weren't.) I think I have a Blockbuster VHS copy of Pecker someplace. For $2.99, it was too good to pass up. Another sacrilegious film that I loved had a great cast (David Schwimmer, you surprised me. Woody Allen was his anxious and diabolical self and Kiefer Sutherland had beguiled me with Dark City.) is Picking Up The pieces. It may be kind of campy for other people, but both this and Pecker cracked me up. So did The Big Lebowski...and other Coen Bros films. Hudsucker Proxy, especially.

Several parts of the soundtrack for Pecker, the film, were co-written by Stewart Copeland.

Since the above didn't work very well, and since it is overcast today... Nonsuch Ned you might like this one.
