Thank you. I thought I heard a mention of that. I've heard of them before but I've never quite given them a listen. Am I recalling correctly they were like '70s and '80s New York punk/Glam?

Yeah. More glam than punk. I was unaware they hung around so long.

For any Teenage Fanclub fans, they will have a new release next month, and can be ordered here.

There appears to be a new Duran Duran album It's not entirely new songs some will be new some will be covers but interestingly it seems to be Halloween themed or roughly so. I got a sneak pre-order in before they shut the shop hopefully it holds up. I'm not a giant fan but I like their stuff and with the Halloween theme I couldn't resist. There's some discussion here if it interests anyone to see: Danse Macabre Is the album there's usual vinyl variants and signed CD and vinyl if you collect that stuff. I do. forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/duran-duran-new-album-halloween-project.1179628/

Early 80's music was great. It's fashionable now to hate the 80's. I was at the right age for it, clubbing five nights a week. Like any era there was a lot of shit going on too. But it all came together. Like the end of the 70's with punk and disco and reggae. I started going to Spain in the late 70's and fell in love with Euro-Pop. The high tempo keyboard sound hit the UK shortly after. Wasn't a big fan of the Acid House scene that followed.

Not a lot to add other than XTC was very much still in the mix. I'm pretty much out the loop these days and stuck in the past. I remember buying all the music papers every week. I'm pretty sure music papers don't exist anymore. That was Pop.

Like Melody Maker and similar? Yes - Melody Maker NME (New Musical Express) Sounds Record Mirror. These were typical newspaper style and pretty cheap. The glossy magazine format style would later become popular with Smash Hits and Flexi-Pop amongst the front runners.
