This year seems to be starting off with a bang. Here is a thread to announce new albums you think are worth noting Global – Todd Rundgren (April release) – I know we have one or two TR fans in this group. Ok, well, if not fans, they know who he is. Anyway, I got an advanced hearing of his new album “Global” and I have to say, I am less than thrilled. But you be the judge. tinyurl.com/lmk7y5aTitle TBA – Wire (April release) – I like the first single (Joust and Justle) from Wire’s forthcoming release. You can check it out, here: www.pinkflag.com/And if you missed their previous release, Change Becomes Us, you missed a good one. Go and get it. Lastly… Rosy Maze – Marker Starling (April release) – If you’re looking to like someone that no one else has heard of (cause’ you're cool that way), look no further than this Canadian export. He doesn’t look very rock and roll, but I really like this first single “Husbands”. www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yaGYLp4brw

The new Dutch Uncles album "O Shudder" was out on Monday and is possibly their best yet. A hine of Tin Drum about it too.

The Mark Starling song is quite nice. His voice sounds a little like C. Moulding.
Yeah! Blur. I'm not completely sold on 'Go Out' yet, but am certainly looking forward to the album.
The Dutch Uncles song, Be Right Back, is rather interesting. The vocals have a 70's vibe for me, I don't know why, but I like it.
Thanks all, for the heads up on new music.

New music from old favorites:
The Church Further/Deeper The first without longtime member Martin Wilson-Piper. I think it is surprisingly consistent and yet still adventurous. More trance and psych elements in the fore.
Swervedriver I wasn't Born to Lose You First studio album in almost 2 decades. Powerful return for these kickass shoegazers ( is that a contradiction.)
Robyn Hitchcock The Man Upstairs Not brand new, but his most recent. Mix of covers and original, with minimal and lovely production by Joe Boyd. Yeah I got it at the show and had him sign it .

Miles, you may want to check out the NPR's Tiny Desk Concerts thread. Nightotter posted a video of Robyn Hitchcock and Joe Boyd that you might like.

A new artist (to me) and a new album I came upon today: Sean Donnelly - Saint John Divine. A friend and collaborator of Neil Finn, the songs on SJD do have a Finn/CH vibe to them. Here's a gem of a song from the ablum called, Little Pieces:

New Steven Wilson cd is out Hand Cannot Erase. I've played it 4 times. It is more understated than The Raven that Refused to Sing, instead of self contained mini prog operas, this one is a song cycle about loneliness and isolation, based on a tragic real life story. It is at turns unsettling, and bleak, and then cathartic and lovely. The band is fantastic and technically it is incredible, but imho it takes time to glean the warmth from the emotional abyss that is its center. www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaWPDIDA-cs

Now go and buy it. Or nick it off the internet if you have kids who know how to. Just get it.
