There is a tradition of rich kids going to art school in the states, along with the riff raff. Some live for today types, burn through loans and struggle to pay later. Liberal arts education is maligned, but can impart riches for the mind and spirit. Riff Raff? Charming

Okay, Hoi Polloi.
From my experience, the working class students were more serious and got more out of school.

miles, I love you to pieces in a forum friendly way. But I've reached an age, a couple behind you with a better haircut 😁 I have revaluated, not changed my mind. And we are all riff raff. We are all prostitutes. But we should all kick against the pricks (a Bible quote, and a Nick Cave and the Bad seeds album)
x
So it's all good, although it isn't. Fuck.

I have never felt an affinity with the rich, I identify with the working class more, but no one is virtuous merely by circumstance of birth. Some of the biggest fascists over here are the upper middle class, small business owners etc. They were the majority of the idiots who stormed the Capital. One could argue they were just the puppets of the ultra-rich Mercers, Murduchs, The Koch brother and their ilk.
As for all of us being riff raff, the Buddhists would say we all Buddhas. Either way, no one is on top as a human being. Our actions though, speak volumes.

I listened to an ex Army Major, now an MP. A Tory speaking about Afghanistan. He served there. I would normally dismiss him. But what he said was uplifting and emotional and against his party. That's why we need to stop this party politics line toeing. Stop defending the indefensible.

What were the skies like when you were young?

What were the skies like when you were young? I grew up on the Pacific Ocean in San Francisco. It was even named the "Sunset" district. I lived with my musician father in Las Vegas for a year and a half. The only thing i liked about it were the skies. Constable said the the sky is the chief organ of sentiment in a painting, so I must be sentimental, or just mental.

Trying to learn more about optione and monitors for photo editing with color standards. For small to mid-sized paintings, I use a bed scanner, and use Photoshop to merge the sections. These require only limited adjustments. These larger paintings are shot with a digital camera, and require 2 or 3 photos, also merged. There are very specific camera settings discovered by trial and error, to get a close representation, then more Photoshop to get color balance, brightness and contract. Alan does the camera work, so I have less grasp of the specifics.

It is beautiful, miles! You just casually mention it as though you hadn't gone through color blending and sketching it out and figuring out just how to fill the space! That would be impossible for me to do and I admire your talent very much!
