I like to catch up with lost friends. Still bump into my best friend from ten occassionally, and the banter picks up exactly where we left off - maybe 5 years before. Shared history with old friends is unreplaceable.
Of people you are still friends with what is your longest friendship ( I have a mate I started infants school with and still go to football with..)

From age 16 or so, but I don't talk to those old friends nearly enough. Just got a call from one in January, just called one I met in 1979 the other day, and a friend from 1986 and I stay in pretty regular touch. I've moved around too much, and I'm starting to regret it.
Favorite crunchy snack food?

Give me a bowl of popcorn and I'm a happy camper. Pepperidge Farm Goldfish are a close second.

How far away from where you were born do you now live?

I live 350 km away from where I was born. Americans ... that would be roughly 217 miles for you folks. ********* What is one thing you cannot stand about the city/town you grew up in?

That my hometown was the birthplace of Johnny Paycheck of "Take This Job and Shove It" fame. Might to travel to the edge of town tonight and take a sledgehammer to the sign proclaiming Johnny Paycheck's origins. Who is the most famous person from your hometown?

There are a kajillion famous people from New Orleans, but for the most famous of all I'll go with Louis Armstrong. If we're sticking with famous people that are still alive, I'll nominate Wynton Marsalis. Or maybe Fats Domino. Or perhaps one of those little quarterback Manning boys.
Nothing gives me more pleasure than a bed of beautiful flowers, yet I have neither the time, the patience, or the talent to grow them. Do you garden?

Yes. I like the process mroe than the end result though. I have designed, redesgned , dug uop and started again numerous time. Only two plants remain from when I first moved in. Currently in a mjor tranisition as our new neighbours ripped out a hedge which has totally screwed the whole blance and priovacuy of the garden.
How do you relax?

I put my feet up on the sofa and variously watch tv/have a doze/play on the x-box/use my laptop.
Where do you spend your holidays, at home or abroad?

Both, Cumbria and the Balearic Islands.
How often do you visit the capital city of your country/state?

As an example of how little I travel, I haven't been to Columbus, Ohio, since my step-brother's wedding four years ago, and Columbus in only an hour drive away. I don't get out much.
What is the farthest distance you have ever traveled for a vacation/work/whatever reason?

Palua Tioman, Malaysia
Place you most grateful to return from (excluding, say, the hospital or the men's room).

A visit to my hometown. It was a great place to grow up but I am thankful, grateful and blesses to have moved on.
Do you subscribe to magazines? If so, which one(s) and why (maybe you'll inspire someone else to subscribe too).

No takers, so to move things on -
No I've never subscribed to any magazines but did have two Sunday newspapers delivered. One day I decided to cancel so went to the shop, settled my account and asked them not to deliver anymore. But the papers continued to be delivered every Sunday. Despite telling the shop owner about this they continued to be delivered. This resulted in free Sunday newspapers for two years. They finally stopped when the shop was sold. Result, eh?
Do you mostly listen to old music or do you still search for new stuff? I'll listen to new stuff but it's got to fall in my lap. And it mostly bores me.

Mostly old stuff. Going through a kick of singers-songwriters from the early '70s now. As with you, new stuff has to fall into my lap, mostly from the links of forummers.
Happy Easter?
