in 2017 he told a reporter, right after his first meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia, that it was his “gut feel” for how to deal with foreign leaders, honed over years in the real estate world, that guided him. “Foreign policy is what I’ll be remembered for,” he said.
Just not the way he thinks.

Headlines in Russian newspapers:
“Trump's mistake is an unexpected lottery win for Russia"
"Trump's reckless actions strengthened Moscow’s position in Middle East"
“The oversized giant, America, lost its way in broad daylight"
Gee, that's being kind of uncharitable.

US officials tell me ALARM BELL RINGING among diplomats in DC that U.S. could one day be held responsible for Crimes Against Humanity for ethnic cleansing of Syrian Kurds by opening the door to it, watching it, encouraging it (Trump's tweets and statements) and not stopping it. -Richard Engel
Yes that is correct, the war crime was committed with a telephone.

miles I had a conversation with a woman at work this week about people fiddling the system. All her concerns and discontent was aimed at working class and unemployed people. I pointed out to her that what was being fiddled at the bottom of the ladder was insignificant to what was going on at the top. I added we are fed these stories about benefit fraud to distract us from who the real frauds are. She looked at me as if I was mad. And to make matters worse so did most other people who were listening in. On my way to work that day I listened in to some retired working class men talking about how Boris won't let the EU tell us what to do and how he is doing a great job. These were men who probably lost their jobs under Thatcher. I was glad when that day was over. But unfortunately the days ahead will be similar.

Yes, it is depressing. The widespread attitude that it is better to deny those at the bottom any scraps than call out the serious grifters. Same over here. Resentment nurtured until it grows into a mental and emotional straightjacket.

I just tired to get two Trump supporters to agree with me that it is scummy and wrong to cheat veterans and to cheat the people who donate to veterans' charities, and they wouldn't do it.

It's like the banker and the cookies joke: A banker, a worker and an immigrant are sitting at the table with 20 cookies. The banker takes 19 and then tells the worker "watch out, the immigrant is going to steal your cookie".

It seems to be any little crack in the supposedly impenetrable wall around him, or acknowledgement of his saying or doing anything wrong, will break the magic spell that binds them. If he did this immoral thing, well then maybe he did all the other shit too. Kind of like having to admit your god is not all powerful, which is the basis of your worship. Yes, shooting people on 5th Ave is totally legal, if HE does it. I hope your current Gov is reelected, not that he is perfect.

I really think Bloomberg is a tool, these rich idiots telling us now that yes, they have all the cookies and will be happy to share them, but only if we just give them ALL THE POWER to do so (or not.)

But it was a pretty softball question. I thought I at least had a shot at getting someone to agree with me, but nope. Not even on Veterans Day. As for Gov. Edwards, I am pissed off that I have to vote for him after he signed that abortion bill earlier this year. He sells out every woman in this state and I have to vote for him! Don't get me started. Still, I held my nose and early voted for him last week. His opponent is insane and I think he'll lose. It is Louisiana, though, so we'll see.
