Yucaipa, CA...another city that has had the dirt developed out of it. Home of the original Stater Brothers Market (Cleo & Leo Stater.) and on the way to Oak Glen-Apple Country, California style. I would say "Rural" described a lot of it when I viewed the place first hand about 22 years ago. As for the grocery stores, there are four of them within 5.12 miles of me at this very moment. My former mother in law always told me that Stater Brothers has the best meat. I know there's a joke in there somewhere.

Athens, home to my alma mater Ohio University. By the way, this is not the Athens in Greece. They don't have an Ohio University, as far as I know.

Honolulu--setting for Hawaii Five-O, which I am watching as I write this. Old one or new one? I accidentally caught a little of both iterations yesterday. Oh, don't I love McGarrett. (Newer one not as much as Jack Lord, though. I am getting used to the newer one.) Ukiah, CA...not to be confused with Yucaipa, Yreka and Eureka, all also of California. WTF? Nobody could spell in town naming days in California?

Highland, podunk town with the same name as my podunk county in Ohio. And the original version, Mare. I have never seen any episodes of the reboot.

Highland, podunk town with the same name as my podunk county in Ohio. And the original version, Mare. I have never seen any episodes of the reboot. I watched a few epis of redux version when first released and Steve's violent anger problem was so way out of character I bailed. Years later, I came across a marathon of the do over and watched a LOT of back to back and in sequence shows. I got the rhythm of the show, realized the new Dano character was more developed and different, plus WOMEN in Five-O was an improvement and there were weirdo regulars that seemed (after original NCIS) believable. You know, WILLING SUSPENSION OF DISBELIEF. Depoe Bay, Oregon It has a blow hole and the tiniest harbor in the world. Serious. I went there and it was beautiful, but a bunch of masochists gather above the rocks the boats have to shoot their sorry afts through to get into the tiny effing harbor. I'd live there...rain, fog, clean air...sigh. No grandkids, though.

East Lafayette, a town in Indiana which I don't think actually exists. For some reason, the sports writers for Yahoo keep mentioning East Lafayette, Indiana, as the home of Purdue University. It is funny reading the comments section, with everyone pointing out, "Purdue is in West Lafayette, dumbass." I've seen this same mistake three different times by three different writers, and I can't think of any reason they would intentionally make themselves look clueless.

East Linton, Ontario Canada .... Yet another Podunk bend in the road that happens to be just outside my hometown. There is absolutely nothing interesting or profound to say about this place other than my friend Sherri lives there.

Hell For Certain, KY. (also known as Dryhill) One of those odd town names that I heard about ages ago and it stuck in my brain.

Norwalk, CA...used to have a mini-golf course right next to the 605 Freeway. I wonder if it is still there.

Katonah, NY
I know nothing about it but I did pass a sign that said it off and when going from Connecticut to New Jersey.
Apparently it's a hamlet. I did not know it well.

New York, New York--according to a journalism professor I took a course with, the most provincial city in the world (he may be right about this).
