Scipio, Utah. Out in the middle of nowhere, with a population of 329. They've got a Dairy Queen, so that's alright then.

Franklinton, Ohio, the village that would eventually grow into the state's capital, Columbus Why was the name of the place changed, Introvertigo? Naples, Italy If I remember correctly, early state leaders wanted a central location for the state capital (originally Chillicothe was the capital [the image on the state seal comes from Chillicothe, about twenty minutes from my house] and later Zanesville was the capital, but neither is centrally located), and since Franklinton was in the way, the village was incorporated into the new capital and renamed Columbus. Salem, Massachusetts, where witches were wont to hang around

Rome, Georgia, where I have played golf a few times over the years.
And, if am not mistaken, Mare, I believe Franklinton was indeed named in honor of Ben Franklin. I guess discovering America (allegedly) trumps discovering electricity.
