Why do they make non meat products in the shape of meat products? If you don't want to eat meat then all good and well. So why would you want to pretend to eat it? Isn't not eating meat all about getting away from the whole meat eating culture? I wouln't eat anything that is meant to remind you of meat-its texture, flavor, color-yuck! I eat mostly soy based products to get the protein I need without getting too many carbs. My main source of protein used to be dairy products, but I have found them to be causing wheezing and bloating (yes, TMI) and know they are really to be minimized. I do like sammiches, and it is convenient to have this plant based protein made in a form that I can add to veggies to avoid carbs. If you have a family history of Diabetes, as I do, then carbs are your enemy. I crave them, unless I have a combo of protein and fat that seems to ease the cravings. I am a volume eater, I need to feel full and eating lots of green, red, yellow and orange veggies satisfies me as long as I have that protein/fat combo. Avocados are a healthy fat that works really well in sandwiches or in salads. (This is why I am so looking forward to having Vegan gravy and mashed potatoes-it is a real treat. The Vegan gravy is loaded with sodium, which is bad for my high BP, so I have to be careful with the stuff. I can always cook up a batch of mushrooms, but it takes me forever to get all the dirt off of them. Sometimes, I just want instant gratification. Or short time in the microwave gratification.) But no, I do not want to be reminded of meat, I do not want meatlike products and I will not eat them, Sam I Am! Not in a boat, not on a train, not in the rain, Sam let me be! I think the meat-ish products are for meat eaters who need to cut down on cholesterol or the five lbs of meat in their intestines for health reasons, but NEED THEIR MEAT OR ELSE THEY WEIRD OUT.

I got two containers of Button Mushrooms. Not counting on Vegan Gravy showing up any time soon.

No, those little cardboard boxes with like 12 oz of mushrooms all dirty inside them. Why can't mushrooms be grown hydroponically? No dirt would really encourage me to eat a whole lot more of them.
Shipping containers would be way too much dirt for me to deal with.

And they would take up way too mushroom. Good point. Morel bow room is always needed.

It will just be the 2 of us, but after downplaying it the last few years, I'm ready to make my sourdough dressing, with onions, MUSHROOMS, and herbs. Some hazelnuts too if I can find them. Yes there will be turkey, and I make gravy (non-vegan) with the pan drippings. Salads and vege sides TBD.

Sounds great, miles ! Will you prepare a whole turkey or a turkey ham, which my mom would do mid year if she was hungry for turkey or somebody asked for turkey for their birthday meal. Before you ask, donavan , there is no actural ham in the turkey ham-no bones either.

Before you ask, donavan , there is no actural ham in the turkey ham-no bones either. It is overkill, but I do a whole turkey, small to mid-sized. Sandwiches galore and soup if necessary. Probably why I only do every 3 or 4 years. Meals have become an important part of our ritual so it seems appropriate.

I had an emotional attachment to my turkey sandwiches.

I'm in training for Christmas. I've just had 50 sprouts with my evening meal of chicken and potatoes.

"Hey, you're supposed to be a vegetarian." Your gateway meat was turkey-what a surprise! Did you really scarf the turkey sandwich? No savoring whatsoever? Or was it more a matter of not wanting to get caught?
