Have you ever searched for something you loved as a kid/adult but it/they seemed to just disappear?
Did you find it or are you still searching?
What memories/feelings do you have that were attached to this thing or place?
What do you miss about it?

I dunno how to start a thread, so here goes. bluedemon25 and I were talking about Kit Kat flavors and it reminded me of an old soda flavor I had been searching for, well for years and years. Thanks to a Huell Howser episode, I found it under another name, with the same old recipe. I posted that story elsewhere, but will transfer it here. bluedemon25 mentioned old fashioned candies being either back in production or recipes sold when the manufacturer went bankrupt. I thought-hey! I've seen websites with really old candy (no, not old stale & sticky stuff from a tin in your Great-Great-Granny's attic) and I wondered if anybody else missed this stuff. I looked at a website and Bingo! There were so many kinds of candy that I used to like, but probably shouldn't eat, now. Nevertheless, they have been brought back around for purchase, sometimes for what seems a fortune compared with Back-In-The-Day prices. So, how about you? What about old things you loved and that seem to be gone forever? Has anyone else seen or heard of them? Why not throw in things you used to dislike-are you glad they disappeared? Yes, that's me...always with the questions!

Here's the post from New Things... I said...I guess I combined the two types of bringing old favorites back, Bluey. I was specifically thinking of a soda called Delaware Punch. I found it on a website that has lots of sodas and I started searching just for it. My sister used to love it, and pronounced it "Del awarey" Punch. It was good! I have been on alert at places like BevMo when picking up the odd soda and not found until... I saw an episode of Huell Howser's PBS show with this soda store in Los Angeles called Galco's Soda Pop Stop Here's the story of how the lost beverage was reincarnated: Red Ribbon Pennsylvania Punch

bluedemon25This is one of the places I found online with old style candies...I don't know how they came to be or if they are actually the same as the originals, but I see things I remember which I forgot all about... The Vermont Country Store
...like my Daddy's favorite Creme Filberts, my beloved Teaberry Gum, filled hard candy that a retired lady let me have when I visited. Memories.

I like tea berry gum. And clove gum.
Also C. Howard's violet mints
Gone but not forgotten foods missed: Hoffman pineapple soda and Snapple Cherry Lime Rickey Soda. Also for candy, Hubba Bubba blueberry gum.

I seem to remember Pineapple Soda as one of the fruit flavors (not sure if it is your brand, though) I saw on the Galco site (see above Red colored Galco Soda Pop Stop. There were some really fun candies from my younger days-those Neopolitan candies with I think coconut in at least one of the colored layers...only thing I was looking for on Galco site that I didn't see was Virgil's Cream soda small batch brew. Yuuuuummm!

Yes I did see thank you. It's just a thing I have for that very particular company which I remembered from when I was a kid it was a regional thing close to where I grew up I think and I think it stopped in the early 90s like Snapple soda.

Yep, have you ever researched what happened to your pineapple soda? I don't remember Snapple sodas! I loved the flavored teas, though! I also saw all the New York Seltzer versions which came from over on your side...I really liked that Cream Soda and the Blueberry. My ex-husband's father loved that Vernor's stuff. So does Finntrovertigo. An Ohio regional beverage like Dr. Pepper was in Texas, where I originated? I think so.

I love Vernors too.
Hoffman soda went out or business so all of them are gone for good unfortunately

Fingers crossed that the recipe is still out there somewhere, Bluey!
Since you are all about flavors, have you tried recreating the soda? I bet you could! Maybe try a Victorian pineapple beverage recipe and add some soda or tonic water and add a little ginger ale or unsweetened lemonade?

I was thinking of less dire reasons for miles' absence, donavan...Summer Time is when he frequently goes to Sci Fi/Fantasy Art Shows and has his pieces available for purchase. They are gorgeous, by the way.
