I wasn't going to say this but I watched something tonight on TV and now I get it.
I used to drive every day. Now I avoid driving. I have lost my bottle. I do go out in my car now and again but I am terrified. Seems I'm not alone. This was just a lead into other people's anxieties. And then suicides. I turned off at this point. So much hidden damage.

Went out this evening in my car. Nearly had two collisions. Near misses, neither my fault. I was quick on the brakes. I was less harsh to condemn because of my issues. Funny how this thread has no attention. Are we in denial? I'm not. I'm hurting and refuse to take the line of least resistance.

I was a nervous driver before the pandemic. So, nothing new there. Am I more nervous now in general? Maybe, but that's a pretty high bar.

Well, I'm nervous as fuck now. But refuse to believe the bullshit. I'd be happier if I did. Maybe that's their plan. It seems to be working for most. And I wish them well.

I don't blame any nervous drivers out there. Last week, while driving down the street here (a small town, relatively light traffic), I was nearly hit by a driver who blew through a stop sign, only to drive another block and nearly get hit by another driver who blew through a stop sign, only to drive another block and nearly get hit by another driver who blew through a stop sign. And of course all three drivers honked at me like I was the idiot for obeying traffic laws. Of course, this may just be the consequence here in America of giving a driver's license to any asshole with a pulse.

I'm much better now but still don't like driving especially in places I'm not familiar with. Reading back I sounded like a nervous wreck 😃 When I returned to work after Covid most people, probably me too, were unrecognisable because of the vast weight that they had piled on. Lockdowns eh, bloody hell.

You could try a crash diet.

During lockdown my wife bet me I couldn't make a car out of spaghetti. You should have seen her face when I drove pasta.
