I don't mind dying. I just don't want to be there when it happens.

Well, we received an urgent email from our director, today, informing us that someone in our building has been diagnosed with Covid-19. Not on the same floor as us, but we could have taken the same elevator as that person, pressed the same buttons, held the same hand railings, etc.
It's beginning to feel like a horror movie with the unseen monster slowly creeping up on you.

Hello all. It will be fine. Do the hygiene stuff. You will almost certainly not die. I work in a supermarket. Apparently I am now a Frontline Worker. Never saw myself as the heroic sort Hurr Hurr.

For those of us who get concerned with any unusual cough or sudden chill, in ordinary times, it is a mental challenge of epic proportions. How many days ago did I go out? Like Terra said, how about that elevator or that door handle? Anxiety feeds on such stuff, and you have to calmly put it away, and go on. Easier for some.
Thanks Bimble, your CV HERO badge is in the mail, no joke.

From the Onion, precariously close to truth:
BALTIMORE—Warning that the nation was unprepared to deal with the fallout of the global pandemic, researchers from Johns Hopkins University told reporters Friday they worried that Covid-19 would overwhelm America’s GoFundMe system. “GoFundMe is the bedrock of the American healthcare system, and as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rapidly spread, we fear the servers just won’t be able to take it,” said research director Dr. Monica White, who stressed that if the pandemic were to grow any worse, there simply would not be enough $5 and $10 donations from sympathetic strangers to go around.
“...We recommend that if anyone is suffering from minor financial strife such a medical debt from the cost of insulin or cancer treatment, you defer to those diagnosed with Covid-19.”

So by the time I'm done, bog roll, if we have any, all gone. Got up to go in for 6 on my day off. That was the first day there was none delivered overnight. Bugger! Good job I'm half dog and don't actually need it. Mind you, the wife's getting a bit pissed off following me around with the little plastic bags..........

I am in an awkward position. My best friend's mom died, and now I am faced with going to a funeral where her friends are all in the age group most susceptible to dying from COVID19. I may just go to the visitation beforehand and try to leave without being exposed to too many people, just in case I am infected. Then I would have to avoid spreading any illness to my friend so he doesn't pass the disease on. Dear Dog. So sorry that you are in the position of wanting to emotionally support your best friend, yet by staying away, you are supporting the health of his mom's friends. I'm thinking about you and your dilemma. I know whatever your choice, it will be the best thing for you, for your friend. Perhaps you can meet up with him privately to give your support and remember his mom together.

I'm also struggling to find wipes, disinfectant and paracetamol. I'm self-employed and live a virtually hand to mouth existentce and struggle to pay the rent, so god knows what I'd do if I caught this virus and couldn't work. Hullo, chrisb. I hope you are in the right place at the right time when there is money in your budget to get your necessities! It has occurred to me that if my sources of income dry up, I will be in dire straits as far as a place to live goes. I wish you health and luck in your future, with a safe, warm & dry place to rest your head.

Terra, that is a nightmare, alright! The invisible Germ Monster, in the air, on the doorknobs and in the expelled air of every co-worker, other shopper, train or bus rider that breathes your way. I think masks may be more for mental health than biological health. I hope you are well, and safely sequestered with your loved ones.
