John Greaves/Saturnboy .....
It is with profound sadness that I inform all of you that John passed away. This was confirmed on Facebook by friends and relatives of his. John had contracted H1N1 and had been hospitalized for many months, only to rally and be sent home. He was improving health wise but very slowly. I am not certain of the exact cause of death but I'm pretty sure it was related to H1N1.
Godspeed dear man. I will miss your bottomless witty and intelligent humour.
My fellow Canucklehead. 😢

Terrible news. I ALMOST met him, he was considering coming to Missoula and meet up with Trevor Simp & I, but couldn't do it.
One of the shining stars of the Idea forum. Fun, funny, nice, clever, smart…can't say enough good things about him.
Fuck.

Thank you for passing along the information Suzi. Thank you Ned for that remembrance of saturnboy's wit. And thank you Jeff for the link to his paintings; I'd forgotten about his skill as a painter (he had shared one on the Ideas forum).
To the many friends saturnboy had on the various incarnations of these forums, my thoughts and well wishes are with you.
Good night, saturnboy.

From a reminiscence thread on Facebook from 5 years ago (on the 10th anniversary of the Idea Form opening):

that is very sad news. my heart goes out to his family. that it should result from a contracted disease, in this modern era, must be especially frustrating and difficult to accept.
he had a unique ability to stay above the fray on the idea forum, always positive, wise and ridiculously funny: land speed record, i laughed till i cried. he was gifted, and we were lucky that he shared with us.

I am deeply saddened by this news. One of the funniest people I ever read. I will always remember saturnboy's exchanges with chrestus on the old forum. John was practically a neighbor up in Alberta, and we corresponded about getting together. I invited him down to my house two years ago, as Truzzi mentioned, to meet up with Truzzi, keltik and me. So sorry that did not happen. We will miss you, s-boy.
