We had our first vindredi in two months at work, today! (vendredi = Friday; vin = wine. Geddit?) We all met on MS Teams right after work, each of us with a glass of their favourite libation. I opened a bottle of chilled Maple wine; others had mojitos, rum and coke, Irish cream, beer... We were fรชting a colleague of ours, a young father whose wife just finished her one-year mat and parental leave; now it's his turn, and he's taking a six-month paid parental leave to care for their daughter.
He's a serious muso... Has thousands of vinyls. Good guitar player and singer. I whipped up a fancy PowerPoint magical musical tour, a quiz where he had to guess French and English songs, album titles, artist and band names, song years, etc. The theme was father/daughter/child, and I included Hold Me My Daddy. (He did manage to guess the album it's on!)
In the end, only one of us in the group wanted to drive the porcelain bus -- he'd downed nearly a whole bottle of pastis.

That sounds like a fun night. Other than having a whole bottle of Pastis by oneself. Ouch. I used to have vindredi with an older pal during Grad school except it was vindredi + cheese + bullshitting. Beer and Cheese Fridays were great and I miss that buddy.
Since we are in the Beer or Wine thread and pastis was mentioned, seems fair to ask. Any absinthe drinkers here? If yes, has anyone tried the "newer" 2 or 3 Jades ( well new to me, came out I think the past 5 or 10 years). I think they are Oxygenee and Nouveau Orleans. I'm curious how they taste. Also wondering about general recs. I like the Jade Edouard the most but the PF and Verte Suisse are nice too. I've never tried Butterfly, I forget who makes that nor much of other brands if anyone has suggestions.

I picked up a six-pack of this at the store the other day--a good beer for Miles.

No work for the next two days, so I am going to enjoy some cheap beer tonight. Labatt Ice--not amazing flavor-wise, but economical and a fair amount of alcohol for the price.

Isn't Labatt's Canadian? They don't sell it over here anymore. Raise a glass to the truckers. God knows they deserve it. Freedom fighters.

Canadian, yes, and fuck those whiny truckers up the ass sideways with a cactus because they might be mildly inconvenienced by a global pandemic.

Oh dear. You'll thank them one day. All covid restrictions are over in England. You can raise a glass to that instead. BAU ๐บ .

I don't have any Jameson's, so I am having some non-Irish Founders Centennial IPA.
