That is a lovely remembrance, miles. I only knew of the radio hits of the band. The links you provided gave me an entirely new appreciation of the band. Thank you.

And another musical influence passes today. I have just read that Maurice White, founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire has passed away at age 74. I spent many a wonderful night dancing the night away at amazing clubs during the height of the disco era. One of my favorite EW&F songs:
Play it and Sing it loud!

So... the only ways he could lose his position were through resignation or death... and the hateful fucking bastard wouldn't resign... is it wrong to feel relief at the passing of Scalia? I can only come up with the merest amount of sympathy at his passing. Dying sucks, sorry for all those times I pondered how better the country and the world would be with you not in it. I hope you went as peacefully as possible, if there's a God, it's in his or her (you better hope it's not a her) hands now. but really... just about the only time I've found this appropriate... link

I remember a similar post by Paranoid Android about Thatcher.

Members of Viola Beach and their manager. A band from Warrington, very near to where I live and visit often. A good band on the brink of a very bright future. So very sad.

I read about that terrible car crash. Had you ever seen the band perform, donavan?

I read about that terrible car crash. Had you ever seen the band perform, donavan? No, my gig days are over but my son was aware of them and they had a really good vibe going in the town and beyond.

I don't watch a lot of tennis, but I did enjoy the input of Bud Collins, as well as his interesting sartorial choices. Here is an image of him channeling Matt Smith's Doctor.

Keith Emerson has relocated to the great keyboard land in the clouds. I am a big fan of The Nice, who were really great but lacked a decent vocalist. ELP's early records were quite good and definitely more popular. I do think they descended into ridiculous excess as much as any prog band, as the 70's continued. That said, he was a remarkably talented musician who left us some great performances.
