Sorry to hear about Phil May, miles. I used to figure I would have a good year if a long song that rarely got airplay (that I loved) was played that day. One year, I said this song was it. Boy was I happy to hear it that day. I am pretty sure my brother called LA AOR station KWST and requested it.

And now Fred Willard has died. Is there going to be anyone left by year's end? Ringo

I left something important out of my post...the song had to be played on my birthday for the year to be a good year. Well, important to me, anyway.

Great track I think my favorite DJ, Ms. Rae's( Raechel Donahue ) husband Tom Donahue was co-founder of AOR format at KSAN (and on the West Coast). She is the reason I decided I wanted to be a DJ and put music together with purpose. When I see red sports cars, I still point and say "Arrest Me Red" as she called the color of her Porsche. Happy memory.

Happy memory. Wow, that is a flashback. I remember her show, and of course Tom Donahue. I first heard him and affiliated DJs on KMPX, and when they lost programming there, KSAN was born. There was also a Buzzy Donahue on occasionally, I think she was related.
In the early and mid 70s I stayed up all night and listened, talk about long and ecclectic sets. And sometimes about 3 in the morning, you would get an Alan Watts lecture

Radio was amazing but now, with Satellite Radio-well, aren't things more homoginized? Everyone has the same few choices. A playlist is a playlist, no matter how broad the audience. The Ethernet has more broad a spectrum, but there is so much more to dig through. That's why I like our Song Of The Day topic...curious and interesting people make choices that are great exposure to music I haven't heard.

Sadly, I wish my cousin Nancy's son Max goodbye. He was only 30 years old. My heart goes out to my cousin and all her family and friends who have known and cared about her and her children. Rest peacefully, Max.

Emitt Rhodes has died at age 70. Brilliant songwriter whose early solo albums are often compared to Paul McCartney's. I love his earlier band The Merry Go Round too.

I know this song, but something tells me it was a cover version. Emitt Rhodes, rest peacefully!
