Mystery Metal Monolith, we hardly knew you. Shows how much attention I've been paying-I didn't even know it appeared. Looked like an Artistic Installation that had greasy hand/miscellaneous body prints on it. Get the geiger counter... It was a guy going for his Masters of Arts degree I think. OR could it be Banksy?

Dunno. Either way it's gone now. Rust in peace.

In the old days they would call it a hoax. Another perfectly good word that's been abused to death.

Hoax...good word. I almost misused it, there for a minute.

I think we all have to admit the letter "Q" has taken quite a beating lately, through no actual fault of its own. Leave Q alone.

My space laser can't start forest fires because it's only a quarter Jewish.

Does anyone else have Disney+? I guess not. Five kids at my house, I have no choice.
Anyway, they've just made the entire 5 seasons of the original Muppet Show available. I went through the entire episode listing to see who the guest stars were, and watched, in order: Charles Aznavour, Debbie Harry, Paul Simon and Gene Kelly. The musical numbers were pretty good; the sketches were, well, a product of their time and aimed at the younger set. Still a pleasant blast from the past for anyone born in the sixties.

Am I the only person alive who hates the Muppet Show?

Kinda hard to hate something that wears its heart on its sleeve the way it did. Something it shared with all television variety shows, come to think of it.

I stopped watching The Simpsons in 1997; it was already growing stale, then. I did catch The Simpsons Movie that came out a couple of years later, though, and bought a used DVD box set of the first season in the late oughts. In fact, I have Disney+ (what household with kids doesn't?) and could watch every damn episode from the last 30 years, but I'd rather watch The Muppet Show -- I was a kid in the 70s, an adult in the 90s. Childhood memories are much more precious, it's a basic function of nostalgia.

I caught my wife, slightly drunk, yelling at the TV: “Don’t go in there! Don’t go in the church, you moron." She was watching our wedding video again.

There's a great bit of nostalgia for you.

Nostalgia isn't what it used to be.

It's deja vu all over again. Or it is a fracture in the space time continuum arrangement that shatters the illusion we live in a linear continuity, and not out of time and space? Have we seen it all before? If we have, are we just kidding ourselves? If we haven't are just not looking?
