"But after all the voting Suck away the sugar coating Now they've had you and they're gloating Boy, it's ugly underneath
Did you ever try to roll away the wheel Go ahead, take a fork and try See the unattractive things that make us real Go ahead, it's okay to cry"

Miles! I saw Astro Boy in that slice of society in that day! I love that song. I was thinking along the lines of...

This has been going through my head. "Masses" takes on a literal meaning these days.

I saw this band live when it was one of Rogue Wave's opening acts at a club called The Belly Up in Solana Beach a long time ago. I'm glad I bought their CD. I still listen to it. I messaged the band on MySpace (remember when?) let them know how much I'd enjoyed their set. I asked if they had heard of XTC, the band. Oh, yes, was the response-they loved Skylarking. Man/Miracle- tough to find online...

...and this...I love this song... ...this is what happens when I go online... Yep. Nearly cried in a record store when I first heard this. I was sixteen and had just been dumped by my first love.

SotD is "Do You Believe In Life After Thugs?" by Astronautalis ...but I won't share it because you kinda need to look at the lyrics and know stuff about Indie Rap.
Instead, will share a video of his flashiest specialty. He's one of the best freestylers you'll ever hear. Give him topics on the spot and he'll instantly go with it, rapping without a pause or space filling yo-yos or yeah-yeahs of Uh-uhs.
At the end he thinks he missed one but did get them all- just missed listing one in the middle.

Oh, Sads! Has it tapered off to a poignant tug at the heartstrings or is it still a very emotional song to hear?
I just experienced a sliver of that type of musical emotion-found and played Nick Lowe and Darrell Hall acoustic version of "Cruel To Be Kind," the way my first boyfriend explained how he was behaving toward me. Hearing that song really upset me for a very long time. FINALLY, I just stopped the vid. Enough of THAT, I told myself.

I wonder if my kids (mid 30s age group) have heard of Astronautilus. Thanks, Ned!

It's the flow that gets me. There's a weird science of hitting the bars and beats in rap and he just goes from topic to topic like it was all written out and drafted over weeks of work. Only falters for a split second at one point.

This musta been an English or Music Major's Senior Project. Intense. I appreciated the color coding.
