All 4 kids back in school, this week. Covid rates are very low, but they've relaxed the health guidelines somewhat, so who knows if a fourth wave will befall us? Masks and vaccination passports are still de rigueur everywhere, but Delta is a tricky customer. September is here, so my workload is about to be amped up to 11 for the next 9 or 10 months. Eldest son has started piano lessons, wants to pick up the guitar again. I've painted 6 canvases (11 x 14), so far: 3 Bill Alexander nature scenes, 3 abstracts inspired by a Google Image search. The results are quite nice; I seem to be endowed with modest artistic ability and am encouraged to continue. Today marks the beginning of Year 7 of not receiving any child support from my ex. **** 'em. I broke down and bought an air conditioner several weeks ago. Forty-degree weather with a very high humidex spread over 4 months was too much. Our heat waves used to last only one or two weeks in July; now they start in May and we get at least 6 weeks' worth of Turkish baths. We'll see you when we see you, Terra! I always appreciate the time you spend with us here, whether following your footprints or standing by as it happens. You have an artiste residence, what with the musicianship and painting! I imagine there is singing, as well. What a nourishing environment for the spirit! Good deal! Yes, indeed...Delta: The Variant is starting to hit children. The smallest kids' hospitalization rate has increased 50% in Los Angeles County recently, and with school restarting and school age kids' hospitalization increasing about 33% I am waiting with bated breath for the ensuing numbers. Be safe and good wishes to you and all those with children! Smart move on the A/C. As usual, you are ahead of the curve on action plans. Good job! Best not to keep track of things that make you want to scream, stamp your feet or cry (internally or externally)...you're the one that all will hurt. Take good care, Terra!

And here comes another tropical depression/rain. Yay.... Wonder if I'll have any driveway left. I was eagle eyed and squinting, looking at the Weather Channel maps as Ida headed your way. This morning's reports show flooding and devastation in the wake of the terrible storm. Tornadoes in New England and neighborhoods with damaged homes surround ones that have become matchsticks and rubble. I am not so concerned with your driveway, when how YOU, your loved ones and friends are is far more worrying. Sending good vibes and hoping you are safe!

I'm only allowed to post images of butts on this forum. So I see! Those 6 paintings are my very first ever. So maybe I'll post them if my entourage thinks they are butt-ugly...

Lol! I better not, my grandson just said "This is the Ostie d'crisse de tabarnaaaaaaakkk car." It was a scale model of a car my ex gave my son-a lovely Trans Am, resembling a car my son once had. One of the movable wheel parts came off awhile back, due to usage by a two year old and as a result, my son needs to keep putting it back together. Lol. I wonder why the car doesn't go into the toy library until the toddlers know it is more something to look at than to play with.

Those 6 paintings are my very first ever. So maybe I'll post them if my entourage thinks they are butt-ugly... I am sure they are not ugly. Perhaps you can check in with miles or other Forumer artists for some feedback. They would have an educated eye as to things like technique and style.

That's what I'm afraid of, lol!
I did what Bill told me to do for my first three, so they aren't altogether hideous, considering I'd never held a brush. The abstracts from the web, I had to try to figure out with my own limited means, and they turned out very different -- though two are kinda nice, actually. Trial and error (mostly the latter!).

All artists know you have to start somewhere, unless they are arrogant bizzotches who have forgotten their own pathway.

Thank you. We made our fine without inside the home damage thankfully. Not surprising the driveway is kaput again. I was worried about flooding but thank goodness no problem even with 6 inches of rain.

Yesterday, was a bit of a better day physically for me, so my partner and I took advantage to go for "Bat Appreciation Day" at a nearby mine/old state prison. I had wanted to see the place for some time, and as I am very fond of animals, the "bat day" was a nice bonus albeit rather small in terms of presence/things to do. They had a wildlife rehabilitator with live bats to show them and answer question which was nice. The connection to the location is that the old colonial era copper mines from the early 1700s were/are used by bats as a hibernation location in colder months, although sadly less so as their numbers have plummeted from white nose syndrome disease. The copper mine is such that first it was a mine, then that proved unprofitable so it was turned into what they claim is the first state prison and was known for hellish conditions (prisoners were in the mine for living, only on the surface occasionally to do work) , then it was closed due to its bad reputation in the 1800s, became a mine again, that folded, and then was just a tourist attraction mid to late 1800s and on. It was neat to see the mine parts made accessible, the copper ore band with green patina and so on. After we drove about a half hour to hike a rather muddy trail in the woods that was a former stagecoach road to see the cellar holes wells and foundations left of a long abandoned colonial to 1800's era town.

Bluey, unlike the prisoners, you got to stay outside.
Glad to hear you are feeling well enough to get out and move around!
