Thanks for the well wishes. So far been quite lucky. Can't say we're out of the danger zone yet as the ground now pretty wet will make it easier for the continued rain and wind expected through tomorrow afternoon (even if weaker than earlier) to down one or the many trees near lines. But of course I'm hoping not since we got through the strongest winds now. Found out the hard way/last minutr the moron who either designed or at some point retrofitted my garage made the stairs inside going up come out to far to pull a typical size car in and close the door behind. So worrying about tree coming down on it. Need to get help to figure out how to safely turn on and move the 500+ lbs riding mower the owners left us that prevented going in the other bay that I'd clear could accommodate a car. Going to see if it's feasible to get an arborist to advise on if any trees should be trimmed since we're at the early part of storm season here and I dont want to only rely on luck. No flood damage thankfully. Was worried as started collecting a good deal up the hill from the house. Hopefully tomorrow passes without incident. Quite tired after being too worried to sleep last night and running around elevating still not finished moving boxes of irreplaceable things in case of flooding. Bluey, how are you doing over there? I was thinking about you as I watched the Weather Channel yesterday and this morning. I fear if you have lost power, that you won't even be able to message rescue services, should you need their assistance. It sounds tough to be completely on your own and not be hale and hearty. I've had a very small taste of that, but you have a much greater risk of big time trouble than I ever have. I'm thinking of you and sending hope and strength! Is having a generator on hand out of the question?

I'd like to look into a generator for the future but at the moment it's prohibitive and it has to be a little bit down the line with other necessary house improvements and related things taking precedent .
So far so good I think if we make it through the forecast at somewhere between 5 and 8 we are likely to be fine if the rebound bring the extra rain as it passes over us again over the weekend that might make the already saturated ground lose its grip on the trees so I'm keeping my fingers crossed over in that 7 or 8 o'clock range that all goes well

My driveway was partly destroyed by flood erosion. It was pretty bad before (we just recently moved in and it looked like a third of the blacktop was gone for the past 10+years which tracks with the lack of maintenance in other aspects of the place. Not sure what affordable solution I'll be able to find but I need something as it's too narrow a driveway to avoid the section that now has a top to bottom mini Grand Canyon.

Yikes! Connecticut and Rhode Island got it coming and going from Henri. Maybe sandbags will be a temporary solution? Gravel in the hole and sandbags on top? Beats me. While it does pour down here in the desert and surrounding foothills, the drainage systems have been consistently updated by the city where I live.
But no tree/tree branch breakage causing power outages? I hope!
The roof held up? No flooding?

Yes roof held and very surprised, happily no tree parts coming down Lesser storms have before wherever I lived at the time during previous similar incidents.

Sucks about your driveway. I agree with Mare, gravel to start. They have been doing a lot of serious street repair here, ripping up streets and making it hard to access the businesses. One thing they do do is put a thick steel plate, with raised patterns to drive over BIG DEEP DITCHES. Not unlike walking the plank the first time, makes you cautious for sure. The point being, it only needs support at either end, if you have that, instead of having to immediately rebuild the driveway. I am not accredited in the field, just an observation. You might not find giant steel plates on Craig's List

Today, I want to talk about golf and golf professionals on tour. I want to talk about this tournament which whittles down the field for the FEDEX Cup Championship to a mere 30 men who will compete for that cup. I want to address my feelings about the pro golfer that at the beginning of today's, Sunday's, play was tied for the top spot of this particular tournament. The guy who has been bitching and crying about how crappy his clubs are over the past month or so, while a whole company of engineers and craftsmen are scrambling and hearing the audio clips and seeing the Tweets about how crappy their product is. Does this guy think he is perfect? It reminds me of how a famous NASCAR driver, with a pedigree that went back a couple generations, was for awhile...it was always the car or the pit crew or the spotter or the tires...never him that was responsible. When his finishes were good, he was all shines and sparkles and glory halleluia (sic) about his team and everybody on it. (He used to want to be an actor-he's now a color announcer and producer of content (documentaries and podcasts) at which he is brilliant. Huh.)
Anyway, if Bryson DeChambeau wins today, will he thank his sponsoring club manufacturer or will it be all about him? I just read he majored in Physics. No wonder he thinks he can bend metal with his brain. Maybe that's what he should do for a living when this PGA golf thing winds up-start his own company and make clubs that work for himself and others-he has shoulders that look like he could rip a tree trunk right out of the ground as would a hurricane. I gotta go find out, now.
Enjoy your day!
Fingers crossed for Patrick Cantlay, Scheffie, Sergio, Dustin and that Webb guy who makes me about my Uncle Webb. (RIP)

Uri Geller of golf! That'd be interesting. Watch as I bend these misbehaving clubs in half with the awesome power of my mind!

Uri Geller of golf! That'd be interesting. Watch as I bend these misbehaving clubs in half with the awesome power of my mind! Lol! Patrick Cantlay won after a bunch (six?) of Sudden Death holes of play. Sh1t, golf is as stressful to watch as NASCAR! Except they don't drive the golf carts 200 mph and have the carnage of The Big One that NASCAR has. Death and serious injury are a consideration. The Daytona Night Race was Saturday night. The carnage was minimal until the end of the final stage of the race. What a surprise.

But, what if they did fix nitrous or whatever to those golf carts for a 200mph boost?
