OH NO! Nonsuch Ned, I am so sorry this has happened to you! Your stress and pain must be horrible! My sister went through waiting for back surgery and then waiting to have back surgery infections operated on and the correct surgery performed, all on hold due to the Pandemic That Never Ends! I will be thinking of you and sending good vibes and best wishes your way. Too bad I can't do back surgery. My sister had to wait for a particular surgeon and he had his schedule booked out months ahead. What worked for her was calling the surgeon's office all the bleeping time. Her specialist was in San Francisco, and way out of her area. The three hour drive there was incredibly painful. It finally happened and she felt much improved after her recovery and P.T. This sucks! I'm in your corner, looking forward to

My sympathies too Ned, and sincere wishes for an actionable and acceptable path opening for you to get what you need done. I had/have a similar experience with my previously now fired GI doctor and the idiocy of ever changing policies of will or wont they do "non-essential " though pretty essential to me diagnostics dur to covid concerns and then other related bs. Still working on getting a new dr with appropriate specialties and an opening not half a year away.

I feel like every day now recently life is like this Doors song at least the title. Until it's dark I can't deal with the light from migraine sensitivity.

In fairness the Medical profession has been great on the Covid front. But less than great on a lot of other things. Again to be fair my wife was treated promptly and successfully for cancer. I think it just shows up a big lack of investment in Health care. Our NHS is not great, and it is in danger. But I wouldn't trade it.

My wife could not buy health insurance (Free Market Hooray ) until the affordable care act passed. Like the NHS, it is always under attack and underfunded.

And met with indifference by legislators, in spite of popularity amongst the populace. I think it was Missouri where the people overwhelming voted last year to join into the Medicare expansion tied to the ACA, and their legislators said, "Tough shit--we're not doing it anyway." Fucking asshole Republicans--a party with no solutions, only an ability to say no.

Missouri too, that reddest of states had a vote for Medicaid expansion, and it passed. Same deal, "We, your representatives are working day and night to find a way to thwart your will." They ran into a problem with the state constitution, and so far, have cowered away into their crypts, waiting to starve the poor another day.

Got a new surgeon and a new surgery day.... actually a week BEFORE my previous surgery date.
I think there are a couple things affecting that. 1. My previous surgeon seems to be (was) the top-rated neurosurgeon in Gainesville, so his schedule was always full. It seems to have been made worse by the scheduling mishaps by his hospital system, made worse by Covid (So when they cancelled all his elective surgeries with apparently little warning- he quit). 2. That surgeon was also in a clinic in which he was the only surgeon, I moved to one run my the other system in town that has like a half dozen surgeons. When my new surgeon saw that I was scheduled months in the future, he asked me why. All I could say is that was when he had an opening.
The date is still contingent on Covid protocols being relaxed enough to allow it to happen. So it could still be delayed.
And it was scheduled on the day of a dental appointment- I'm going to have to delay that! Oh no!

Same thing with my sister's surgeon-top rated with a lot of patients needing his services, hospital cancellations of surgeries indefinitely due to CoVID-19. Glad to hear it is on the calendar and at least pending. Thinking of you and sending positive vibes. I feel the same way about dental appointments...I also am not looking forward to what has to be done next at the dentist. I already spent as much in less than a one year period as the next dental project will cost. I celebrate with you on cancelation of your dental appointment!

I am very worried, I think scared even would be appropriate to say, of the potential extended power outages from the incoming hurricane that may be the first in 30 years to make landfall in New England (and even if L.I. instead likely affect us as past tropical storms did). It's not an inconvenience for me but a serious medical issue. Its still both warm and humid here, meaning the house will rapidly build up heat and humidity. I have trouble breathing from various chronic medical issue as is, and heat and humidity are majorly exacerbating factors. Despite at least 2 or 3 week plus power outages in the time I've lived here and some while I was away for some years before returning, the cheap fuck power company(ies) basically have a monopoly or nearly so in my state and get away with not doing supposed to be requires throughout the year tree trimming to prevent falling limbs causing extended outages. Then they never have enough people despite sufficient advanced warning 5o deal with the aftermath making for unacceptably long outages which are medical crises for not just me but plenty like me. This really isn't just my opinion, it's well documented akin to the negligence or power companies in the west with the accidental fires due to their lack of maintenance. I have no family or friends in the state go to in case say they maintain power but I don't. This scares me. Storm expected to reach me early Sunday and last through part of Monday.

Hope you will be okay Blue. It is horrible to be dependent on those who don't care. Try to post when you can and let us know you are alright.

Thanks for the well wishes. So far been quite lucky. Can't say we're out of the danger zone yet as the ground now pretty wet will make it easier for the continued rain and wind expected through tomorrow afternoon (even if weaker than earlier) to down one or the many trees near lines. But of course I'm hoping not since we got through the strongest winds now. Found out the hard way/last minutr the moron who either designed or at some point retrofitted my garage made the stairs inside going up come out to far to pull a typical size car in and close the door behind. So worrying about tree coming down on it. Need to get help to figure out how to safely turn on and move the 500+ lbs riding mower the owners left us that prevented going in the other bay that I'd clear could accommodate a car. Going to see if it's feasible to get an arborist to advise on if any trees should be trimmed since we're at the early part of storm season here and I dont want to only rely on luck. No flood damage thankfully. Was worried as started collecting a good deal up the hill from the house. Hopefully tomorrow passes without incident. Quite tired after being too worried to sleep last night and running around elevating still not finished moving boxes of irreplaceable things in case of flooding.
