Boris Johnson tonight announced the wrong date of his own lockdown change in a live TV address to the nation. The Prime Minister wrongly said step four of the roadmap would only begin on July 29 in a speech at Downing Street. He meant to say July 19. You couldn't make this shit up. As if we haven't had enough mixed messages already. FFS!!!!

I went over the weekend to see a historical village. Not a ton to see but nonetheless pretty neat. House museums with the homes from the early to mid 1700s and a couple of items from the 1600s. Foe this parr of the country that's fairly old for still standing original structures. The colonial era cookware was cool. They had posset pots and spider leg pans. I'm curious to try historically accurate posset sometime.

Inside these walls you can see original buildings and artifacts, mainly from the Victorian era when the fort was at its peak and we recreate. We hold multiple historical reinactments.... ...whoops, sorry. Another flashback to selling tickets on Mackinaw Island... *shudder*... I can still see it like it was yesterday, camped out under the hot sun at the rear gate... in my uniform, in my WOOL uniform... and feet away was the Horror, possibly the worst Governor of Michigan, John Engler, taking a stroll down the road from the Governor's summer mansion down the road with his adorable triplet girls, pointing up at me and saying "look girls, a soldier!"...oh such a complicated feeling there. (I also worked a bit at Fort Michilamackinac, in Mackinaw City, wearing a redcoat, recreating the 1760's)

I'm sorry to hear it sounds like you had an unpleasant experience on the job. It does however sound like a neat place to me were I a visitor. It reminds me a bit of a fort I saw in VA, I forget the name. I believe Jefferson Davis was held there for some time. A bit later period IIRC thr existing structure was civil war instead.

It reminds me a bit of a fort I saw in VA, I forget the name. I believe Jefferson Davis was held there for some time. A bit later period IIRC thr existing structure was civil war instead. In all, it was a good experience (I was just being dramatic, sharing my "war" stories)... and the Engler encounter is a funny story, no matter how much of an assmonkey he was (and still is). I was completely spacing out when it happened. I unglazed my eyes to see a chubby man pushing a baby buggy... and I clearly thought the words as I looked up [Ah, man pushing a baby carriage, it's got two compartments... no, three] "Look girls, a soldier!" [Holy shit, that's the governor]... Ya see, it's actually a bizarre place to push a baby buggy. It's a bare road with the fort on my side and a big empty field on the other. The horse and buggy tour stops so the ticket seller can try to convince people to get off there because it's basically the last stop before they go down the steep hill (The steep hill being a main reason you don't see walkers there much). But I recited that damn speech so often it became ingrained into my very being... and any mention of such parks brings it back.

Glad to be back online. I was excited to watch my favorite golf tournament, the U.S. Open, and of course a storm knocked out the cable and internet around here for about two and a half hours. Just got repaired about ten minutes ago.

That must have been a stressful wait, Introvertigroo. I think Thursday and Friday are the most enjoyable for a non golfer to watch. At least you can see if those you follow made the cut for the first BIG DAY (Saturday) and know if you want to concentrate some major TV time to the Tournament. Also, you can tell who is pooping out on their way to losing glory, when they have pretty good early days.

Has this forum ever had five members online at the same time? 'Cause that's what we have today.
