Though different time and I was young, a kid, and with family so not really interacting with other, I do recall the joy of and sometimes surprise at seeing so many similar fans for the earlier Weird Al shows I attended 1997ish through 00, especially earlier the internet while around was not that widespread or developed so sense of other fans was not so obvious.
Other shows I still felt a bit or comradarie bur w a little out feeling looking around due to my musical taste that often I was the youngest by 20 or 30 years. Tht happens a lot. Still fun rhe crowd excitement, but as a prolific concert goer I do feel social norms changed over the 15 year period I primarily went, people for euder6more selfish more damned if they care it's supposed to be a shared enjoyment and not just for them. Though I'll admit I felt that has happened in general life as well. I can say truly I was never the rude drunk to another fellow fan, the person blocking everyone's view when everyone else was sitting or talking loudly during the performance others paid good hard saved money to see. How rude nor just to others but the performer. Nevee the person inadvertently tight space severely shoving or smacking me or my belongings into others without care repeatedly as I'd other people didnt matter. Maybe with my particularly sensitive tactile auditory and other sensory issues it's just me but I thought a bit of politeness and care for a share event is always appropriate and right. Feels like it went our the door though IMHO and experiences.

Feels like it went our the door though IMHO and experiences. I remember going to watch XTC at a nightclub in Liverpool. The place was packed. I was stood up near the front when the person behind me tapped me on the shoulder and politely asked me to move slightly to one side so he could have a better view. I did but thought to myself this guy has no idea what is about to happen. The band came on and Andy said, this is the first one tonight, it's called Outside World and the place erupted. Everyone bouncing up and down all over the place. The guy behind me probably ended up on the other side of the dance floor and must have had the shock of his life.

Thanks to bad knees/back, I've never been a big concert goer. I still got out to a few good ones particularly when I lived in Milwaukee. My friends in IfIHadAHifi always put on a racous and loud show and took some interesting gigs. A had a free night once and decided to watch them perform... at a strip club. They're not a great fit for such a venue, and the audience didn't care too much that there were topless girls trying to move to the music... noise rock at a deafening volume. But it was certainly memorable. I had this great weekend once where, over the course of three days I got to see three obscure bands doing their weird thing in different venues. - His Name Is Alive in a half-full mid-sized club. Fuzzy and dreamy, mix of the electronic music and a talented jazz singer he featured on the tour.
- Japanese band Polysics in a large club pretty packed (but not really for them) They were an opening act on "Myspace Music Tour" - they are energy overloaded, Fumi was still with the band, so you get her straight-faced synth playing while the rest pogo around. I got talk with them afterwards, I had the lead singer, Hiro, geeking out over my (sweaty) XTC Chalkhills felt jumper that I specifically wore because I know they're fans.
- Then I left early to see a different touring Japanese band, the melt-your-face noise rockers Melt-Banana. Very loud and punky but also great musicians. The guitarist plays his giant effects pedal setup kind of like a keyboard.
Then there's "Summerfest"- the country's "largest music festival"... if you go by quantity, not always top tier talent. Some favorite main stage acts seen there were Living Colour, Polyphonic Spree, They Might Be Giants (but rates a bit lower for personal reasons), Ben Folds, and Violent Femmes (which was also was the most crowded obnoxious concert... as it is Milwaukee, and they are a Milwaukee band)[/li] But for "favorite" I always have to go to a band I saw by chance. Norway's Katzenjammer. I actually saw them twices, because they were so awesome that I HAD to return for another performance. Great songs, but it was their performance that really gets you. They're all these beautiful "real" women with strong personalities who are ALL multi-instrumentalists and all sing lead on different songs. So, throughout the concert they trade their instruments so one will be on guitar doing one while the other is on their giant cat-faced bass balalaika, drum/banjo/trumpets/xylophone... whatever is needed for their rock/folk fusion. They have multiple good concerts online. Too bad that they seem to have broken up after the blonde went solo. The only criticism I have is that I think they may have plagiarized the first song in this video from a Gillian Welch/David Rawling song... unless the tune is traditional. [/ul]

Speaking of weird bands and Japanese bands, I saw Trippple Nippple open for Devo about 10 years ago. A definite WTF performance. Interesting at Keats but I was glad when Devo took the stage.

And not flaunting my hairy chest, as opposed to our dogawful mayor and his/her asininity.
