Sometimes, it's not just the chord itself but where it falls in the tune. In "Dying", the chord that goes "up", you know the one, where it sounds different than the one right before it. That one. Right after Colin sings, "I'm getting older, too." Nothing particularly special about it, but in that spot, it makes the song go "off", suddenly, you know, just like Death!

That's an upstroke isn't it? That can make a big difference.

The Uncommon Chord (to quote Allan Holdsworth)

i was going to say "dying" too... those chords in the verse are so "unchordy" (specially for the fingering our truzzi proposed in its chalkhills tab; that last chord: 1XX000) but they make you feel something. let me think of other ones...

Bm(maj)9 (B minor major nine) 7*9*8*7*7*9
Final chord of "That Wave" - notes confirmed by AP!
Andy tunes the A string down to a G for this tune, so HIS fingering in that retuning would be: 7*7*8*7*7*9
I was going to go for this one when I saw that Jeff had already - so it must be right. Hello Jeffers.

That's an upstroke isn't it? That can make a big difference. Yeah, but not too much downward pressure. And nice and slow. Seems to do the trick.

Chalkhills and Children I haven't a clue what chords are being created by the vocals but they make my skin tingle in the best possible way: Third verse - 'I'm soaring over hushed crowds, the reluctant cannonball it seems...' frickin' genius at play

This could be a thread of not many posters but what inersting and unique chords have cropped up in xtc's music A couple of dozen posts in five and a half years? Teinie was right, at least until he tried to spell interesting.

I always find foreign languages inersting, except for French.
