Bm(maj)9 (B minor major nine) 7*9*8*7*7*9
Final chord of "That Wave" - notes confirmed by AP!
Andy tunes the A string down to a G for this tune, so HIS fingering in that retuning would be: 7*7*8*7*7*9

like many jazz musicians i spent years in a debilitating obsession with chords, chords and more chords; it was an essential part of my recovery that i learn to write songs without any chords at all. and it is also difficult to single out a chord anyway, as they mean so much more in sequence. to my ears the most striking harmonic content in the music of xtc has always been the multiple guitars playing different chords simultaneously in combinations that are illegal, or at least unexpected. instances of this are too numerous to count, but one thing that always kills me is the beginning of "optimism's flames", those thick slabs that come around every three measures over the four-measure bass line. i just love that.

The chord that kicks off 'Limelight', not sure what it's called as I think it's deliberately detuned for the right kind of wrong!

D scusting. By the way MXY, your tag line reminds me of a joke Steely Dan's Walter Becker tells: "You're in a room with Hitler, Mussolini and Kenny G. You have a gun with two bullets. Who do you shoot?" The answer: "Kenny G. Twice, to be sure."

Gmaj9
x.10.9.11.10.10 But you have to use your thumb - and your hand won't like that fingering.
3.2.4.2.x.x Easy to finger, but voiced very low.
x.x.5.4.7.5 Your hand won't like that one either.
x.x.5.7.7.5 That doesn't have the major third in it, but is easier to play. That's actually a D/G, but you can get away with it if you have another guitar or keyboard playing along.
The notes are: G, B, D, F#, A.

An excellent fingering site. There are a lot of excellent fingering sites on the web. Wait, are we talking about the same thing?
