Recently I learned that in Britain, "ladybird' is a term used for what we in the U.S. term as "ladybug.' I did not know this before, so I spent 30+ years thinking Andy was referring to a bird not a ladybug.

It's all good bri, I thought it was Travels in Nylons. Imagine the images that conjured up.

Yeah, I wanted to post this in Misheard lyrics but it's not misheard - I heard it correctly but just had a different definition and thus image for the word. This line in the song "You'll spread no wings to fly in fright if I'm beside you." had me picturing bird wings rather than insect wings. But having it be Ladybugs rather than a bird does make more sense of this line: "I have heard you wish to walk across my pillow"

Speaking of ladies, why do women have a difficult time working for the Back Porch Postal Service? Is it because it's mail-dominated?

It's ok. This is a safe non-judgemental place, at least as far as sartorial choices

It was a misunderstanding that didn't last long, as it only takes a small amount of awareness and thought, but I remember the embarrassment I felt when I figured out "the world is football-shaped."

The other half of this is mishearing something and assuming the lyrics you think they are are some sort of British phrase you just don't get.
"pointing out the hose" ... oh, you Brits and your funny sayings! ("Putting on the pose"... Vanishing Girl)

To be honest I was happier when we never had the lyrics, more earlier hickuppy XTC applies. I made them up as I heard them. When it's all out in the open you fatigue more quickly. Again less is more. A glimpse of a beautiful woman scantily dressed on the beach is a beautiful thing appreciated in a respectful manner. A nudist beach is a nightmare. I might get cancelled now 😉

Well, in that example more like less of the less is more.

That didn't quite sound right and a little bit creepy. I just meant a bit of mystery is a good thing. You don't always need or want all the pieces of the jigsaw.

Ditto...my wild guesses as to lyrics that were interesting and that word that means fascinating and different that we don't seem to be able to type without hyphens (Q-U-I-R-K-Y) all were intriguing and fun to sing. Some, irreverent, even.
