yeah, postponed again... Let's fix the fact that we never opened a thread for it when scheduled a year earlier. www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/xtc-convention-2020-postponedddddddddddd
...says no tickets available, and that may be true (as planning was pretty deep and I figure everyone who HAD tickets still has them), but that may be updated. If other links become available, I'll put them in then. But the FB page would be the main place for info. It's a public group though, so you can see the threads without joining FB. www.facebook.com/groups/2657989814274246/

Happy Don Day 2021 (postponed from 2020). Also, I wonder if a 2021 postponement date for this convention is optimistic and premature.

I'm still hopeful that this is going to happen for everyone, especially with the latest news regarding the Covid-19 vaccine. Ed, Matt, Dan, Jake and I, as Fossil Fools, will be performing.

I thought someone from FB land would get in here to do proper pressings, but here are some missives from the convention page: February decision:It is with great regret that once again we have taken the decision to postpone the Convention for another year. The health and safety of our guests from around the globe is paramount, and while vaccination programmes are in place, it is too early to predict what the situation will be in September, in addition to which a variety of quarantine rules remain worldwide which are subject to change, sometimes at very short notice. Also, on Thursday we were advised that our venue, The Great Western hall at STEAM in Swindon, which is currently being used as a vaccination centre, will continue to be used as such until October 2021 which clearly impacts our plans. STEAM have confirmed that they will honour our booking in 2022, (final dates yet to be decided), as have the hotels which have been reserved specifically for the event, and all ticket purchases to date will be honoured, or a full refund offered if preferred. Once again, we plan to offer a virtual alternative for 2021 - and hope you continue with the support and patience you have shown to date. FAN CONTRIBUTIONS!Good morning all - time to shake things up a little! Plans for the Virtual Convention are well under way with some real treats lined up - of which more later - and as with last year's virtual event, we'd like YOU (yes, you) to play YOUR part by submitting your solo, duet, or band, XTC- related content to us for possible inclusion to coordinatezero@gmail.com by 1st September 2021. Last year's contributions were of an incredibly high standard, and I've no doubt we'll see the same again this year! So get creative, unleash your inner Gregory, Partridge, Moulding or Chambers and let's see something eXoTiC!! Please share far and wide!! FAN ARTSo here's the thing; we'd like you to get creative by submitting a piece of original artwork, photograph or set of photos loosely based on the theme of XTC album titles to Lou Dommett Young at this address ' xtcconventionphotos@gmail.com' by the 1st September 2021 and we will display as many of them as we can, set to the music of XTC and the Dukes by Dj Ivan - please don't send them direct to those individuals on FB as both Lou and Ivan already have a life and I don't fancy being slapped by either of them. It's not a competition, there's no prizes or nuffin', you just get to show your fellow fans what a smarty-party you are with your mean 'n' moody or fun offerings. Go on, you know you want to.....

So, looks like the Online convention will be 1pm EDT (US Eastern)... 6pm BST (UTC +1 hour). Online location: It should be made public on Thursday or just before on Friday. I'm pretty sure attendance will not be dependent on actually being an FB member, even though almost all dissemination of information has been through the FB group. All timings are BST (UTC +1 hour). 6pm: The evening starts with a special edition of the Limelight podcast, ‘What Do You Call that Noise’, hosted by Mark Fisher, with special guests Terry Chambers and Steve Tilling from EXTC (audio only). 7pm: Ghost Train – with music from our own DJ Ivan, featuring fan art and visuals from Convention members. 7:30pm: Interview with Neville Farmer, co-author of XTC Song Stories and Bags of Fun With Buster. 8:20pm: The Loving: a world exclusive premiere of a brand new animated film from Alvaro Ortega. 8:30pm: Fossil Fools, live from the Vic, Swindon, 24 September 2021. 10:00pm: A chat with Terry Chambers PLUS Terry answers your questions. 10:50pm: An interview with XTC’s roadie and sound engineer Steve Warren. 11:45pm: More music with DJ Ivan, including fan art & photography. All timings are approximate: the whole evening will be peppered with new and exclusive performances from XTC fans, and other goodies!

Interview with Steve Warren, XTC original drum tech and sound engineer 45 mins.
He's a cool guy. Chatted with him. And the Fools too. I'd love to be on that session.

Ned, this sounds so cool. Can we put our differences aside and unite on this one. And keep me up to date, please?

I'm still stuck recuperating at home, so I will be paying close attention and posting the online location as soon as I see it. The FB group put out an "invitation" to members and I marked myself as "going" so I'll be receiving the updates that come with it.
