BoJo has tested positive. But he's still more than willing to come over to your house and shake your hand.

Good thing he's not invited.

I ordered food online from a wholesaler last night and it was delivered to me on my doorstep this afternoon! That's many days faster than current supermarket delivery service. This wholesaler normally sells to restaurants; but since these are all closed, he's desperate to get rid of his stock before it spoils. Not everything's a bargain (pasta and milk are $$$, for example), but I saved some dough, didn't have to leave the house and stocked up on a ton of dry and frozen goods.

Retail isn't accepting your overbought items back. Some idiot and his wife came in to my husband's Walmart and cleaned them out of baby formula. This was before they had to implement limiting on items. They figured he was going to try to sell it on eBay. Thus, retail as a whole had to implement this policy. So, if you have too many of some hoarded item for whatever your reason for buying, may I suggest to unburden yourself of some guilt and donate it to your local food bank or soup kitchen. Only sought after thing I've got a good amount of that I'm trying to unload in this time of need is a tote full of puzzles. But those were bought last fall for the holidays. Sold two today. But I've put the rest up on discount. I've already made a good profit on the best. Time to get rid of the rest. Especially those damn Christian ones, I had a feeling those wouldn't sell and I was right.

It's nice to be back and see some old familiar avatars. Things are OK with the bimble clan thus far. My niece works for the Civil Sevice in actually dealing with all this (she did her Doctorate on disater planning a few years ago). My 97 year-old mum has been pretty much housebound for a year or two, so her life hasn't changed a great deal! The cynic in me thinks that while we all seem to be pulling together at the moment, things will go back to normal soon after this is all over. Many of the the people on their doorsteps the other day applauding the NHS frontline workers will return to voting for the Tories and their cuts to taxes and public services, especially the NHS. Though to be fair to Boris, he seems rather less fond of austerity measures than his predecessors and the rather more rabid elements of his party. Even though his pre-corona spending plans revolved around big infrastructure projects* in the mistaken belief that "trickle down" is a thing that actually works: I see them benefitting business and the already comfortable rather than the poor and disenfranchised that really need help. Time will tell.
Supermarket joke: What's red and not there? No tomatoes.
Pip Pip, chins up, chums!
*HS2? Who really needs to get from London to Manchester an hour quicker than before? (Sorry, don!) Oh of course, Man Utd fans!

HS2. It would come in handy the other way 'round for going to Wembley. But that's not happening any time soon. Yeah a complete waste of money. Get me from Manchester to Liverpool and back in under 5 hours first. The clapping thing. Everyone stood shoulder to shoulder. Is it just me? And when the economy starts to collapse, which it will, stay at home will collapse too. I think the mixed messages have been awful. It started with don't go to the pub but the pubs are still open. Then got worse. But Boris will come out of this a hero and we will be stuck with the Tories for another good few years. I just hope Keir Starmer sorts out the Labour party. Boy do we need them. All power to you niece bimble. The majority of Civil Servants are under valued and under paid. As for this staying off work on full pay and watching the telly all day, well I'm lovin' it.

Nice to hear from you, Bimble! Yes, some days are worse than others, but it's nice to hear a few positive words now and then and and to read of some good deeds and brave people, either on the frontlines such as yourself or in the civil service such as your niece. Take courage, chum!
