And now a new variant appears in the UK.
"However, even if the new subvariant is as contagious as researchers believe, that’s not enough of an improvement over delta to account for the way U.K. cases continue to rise. A 10% or even 15% increase also isn’t enough to change the projection for the U.S., should that variant spread outside the U.K. The delta variant was more like two times as contagious as the alpha variant, which was itself about twice as contagious as the original “wild type.” It’s not A.Y.4.2 that’s keeping counts up in the U.K., and it shouldn’t cause lost sleep in the U.S.
The answer there isn’t any change in the virus. It’s a change in the people.
Coronavirus is more prevalent in Britain mainly because of reduced emphasis on measures such as mask-wearing, social distancing, ventilation, and working from home …"

Covid is currently the 25th biggest killer over here. That's pretty far down the list, isn't it! Fortunately, I got the results of the second CoVID-Negative, luckily. Completion of that possibly repeatable process is a big relief. Damn you OCD!!!

My son has OCD. He has coping mechanisms and is doing OK. I support him everyway I can. I love him to bits. ❤

Forget Covid. My daughter gave me a book today - Living Better - How I Learned To Survive Depression - by Alastair Campbell. A Sunday Times Best Seller.
Time for a read.

Forget Covid. My daughter gave me a book today - Living Better - How I Learned To Survive Depression - by Alastair Campbell. A Sunday Times Best Seller. Time for a read. What a thoughtful daughter! After/ As you read it, you can share what you learn with her-what an opportunity! When kids give back, it can create the most wonderful bonds of understanding and growth! Think about this gift as a Lego green base board...a place to build. It is a place where you learn who she is, and she in turn can have insight into who you have been at various points in your life.

Got my booster shot today. Phizer. At the local pharmacy. Took 1 1/2 hours because there were numerous folks who felt like being spontaneous and getting it today, on a rainy afternoon.
Sitting around listening, there were some folks going on about how superior Moderna was to the other vaccines. I asked my clinic about mixing vacs and they recommended sticking with the one that brought me.

I have had the biggest reaction to the booster. Sore arm I expected, but I also have some chills and feel feverish. Glad I have nothing to do today.

Perfectly normal reaction. Shouldn't last more than a day or two. Take care, relax and hope you are back to normal soon.

Sorry to hear that the booster knocked you for a loop, miles! I always think - how bad would it have been if I was infected with the virus? Then, I am glad for the fact we can be vaccinated.

I have a similar feeling of relief to when I had my first shot. Got my flu shot Friday, so I'm ready for winter.
I still like the hide and seek analogy, don't let it find you. But if it does, have your immune system primed.

I asked my clinic about mixing vacs and they recommended sticking with the one that brought me. I had the same reaction to my puh-fizer booster, minus the chills. If asked, I would have said "obesity" was my reason for getting the shot. I don't really consider myself obese, but the BMI chart says different. It's more my undiagnosed exhaustion and post-surgery condition that makes me leery about going without a booster. But they didn't ask. I'd say the Moderna talk is mostly talk. I've heard the same about Pfizer being "better"- I think they each have their pros. I think J&J is supposed to be less effective overall but most effective against Delta for some reason.

I've been told rather than a booster I need a full third jab. Still waiting for the text from NHS England to give me the go ahead. The messaging and communication which has never been good over here seems to be getting worse. And the mixed messages and misinformation from official sources continues unabated.
