XTC fan on FB, Camille H., just reported how she caught the Delta Variant. She waited until she was feeling a bit recovered to share. Fully vaxxed and extremely careful. She never stopped masking, kept distance in the scarce instances when she went out. Yet she caught it (and has no idea when it could have happened). The good news is that, because she was vaccinated, she could self-care at home. Still not pleasant at all, including a loss of smell/taste, but if she hadn't... well, hospitals are overflowing with those that did not. There is speculation that a masked person can contract the virus directly through the eyes, if the viral load is high enough in the environment. So that might include a vaccinated, masked person. Face shields and masks? I still think asymptomatic, vaccinated people are spreading it in their groups without any way of knowing, or even thinking they need to get tested.

Occasionally I still think I got it in the early days and was asymptomatic when I was working at home half-days and in a mostly closed and properly careful office the other half. "Long-covid" would be another possible explanation for the symptoms I currently ascribe to the pinched nerve.
Just realized that I have gotten completely out of the habit of taking my own temperature. Should probably be doing that again. I did go to one of my doctors a couple times in the last couple weeks, oddly they weren't taking my temp as part of their usual routine.

What in retrospect now seems excessive, was the attention put into disinfecting everything, compared to airborne transmission. Temperatures were taken routinely to enter most facilities, then abandoned. I still say better too much prevention than too little.

I hated getting my temperature taken at work, solely because the cheap thermometers provided by our company didn't measure jack shit. Either that, or my body temperature is routinely 92.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

Yes, with this precise measurement we will chose to admit or deny entry.

They are thinking about me returning to the office one day a week. How very dare they. They will have to drag me in kicking and screaming. I've got five years to go then that will be me done. And those five years will be at home if I have anything to do with it. Covid or no covid.

Back to about 75% masks at the local stores.
Whenever people say or think it's over, just remember, how many sequels there were to Halloween.

SATIRE: From The Borowitz Report”
FLORIDA —In a potentially ominous development for the Florida governor, a new poll shows Ron DeSantis hemorrhaging support among voters who identify as opposed to dying.
According to the poll, DeSantis’s favorability numbers are plummeting among Floridians who describe themselves as “somewhat,” “very,” or “strongly” opposed to being dead.
Asked to name the issue most important to them, an overwhelming majority of anti-dying voters cited “continuing to exist,” with the economy and immigration placing a distant second and third.
In order to be fair and balanced, the report added reaction from a DeSantis aide who dismissed the poll numbers, saying “this obsession with not dying is the kind of political correctness the people of Florida are tired of.”
“Governor DeSantis has had a very strong pro-dying message, and that’s not going to change,” the aide said.

I thought this Covid thing would have highlighted Health Insurance over there. Maybe it has.

It has. The states that accepted Medicaid expansion could use those funds to insure the poor and near poor, while supporting the regional hospitals. Most of these red states, with explosions in case rates, refused the federal money, so their residents are poorer, sicker and the hospitals are full. FREEDUM! Yes and those fortunate enough to survive lengthy stays in the ICU, will find they owe more money than they will make in 10 years. The number one people declare bankruptcy in the US is STILL medical debt. The human infrastructure bill does provide improvements to ACA, Medicare and more $ to hospitals.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like a nightmare. There must be something wrong with human nature.

Thanks for the update. Sounds like a nightmare. There must be something wrong with human nature. Yes there is, and in the systems we constructed.

In the 21st century, universal health care is a human right. Strange that a few countries still haven't figured that out.
Same goes for the metric system and Indian take away.
