I have seen on Youtube a few tracks from Odd Ditties, and found on a blog the whole thing to download in mp3 format. I quite like these funny tracks of banter and song snippets plus the few full songs that appear. I understand the compilation comes from what is called HdV tapes, # 22 I believe, and that this was a person who is/was friends with XTC named Hans deVente, but whom a brief search shows fans have very polarized views and either love or hate the man and his material. All of the tapes seem to have gone away but a scarce few including the above mentioned material. However, the blog that posted it and the other site mentioning its existence (guitars101) have no track listing which gets to my questions.
1.) Can anyone shed any light on the track titles (i know most are small snippets of songs but nonetheless I'm interested) for Odd Ditties/ HdV # 22?
I'd love to label all the tracks. I'm not sure if these are all published songs or a mix of snippets of songs later published and some never published.
On Youtube Sgt. Rock has identified Do the Dwarf, Let's Ban the Bomb (which actually spans two tracks), and the excellent Hot Leathers and a Fist of Fire.
2.) Track # 6 is definitely a bit of Looking For Footprints/Sleepyhead, HOWEVER, unlike the version called "disco" on the officially released material or the earlier Looking For Footprints officially released, this one sounds a good bit different, a yet additional different version. Does anyone have any information on it, its title and/or when it was recorded?
3.) Can anyone confirm if Odd Ditties is identical to the tape in the HdV collection (I do not have access but would love too) called # 41 filthy manor recordings. If it is not identical, can anyone tell me what its contents are (and even better where to get it)?
